Folks,
It is what it is. Somebody in the Defense Department is asking for a price on 650,000 .45 ACP handguns. All the best...

I hate to be the one to have to tell ya. Gil. But the military have never stopped using the venerable .45 ACP. US Navy, US Marines, US Army are still using this outstanding defence round, mostly in their respective "Special Forces". What I see in your post is a standard form to recontract for manufactures to submit samples for testing. I guess the USP's (I think that's their initials) aren't holding up as they should.

Yup...I was right...Heckler-Koch USP............... Very Happy

HK's it was and it's not that they were a total failure, it's just very expensive refurbishing i thought? Although what pistol they would contract other than the HK USP is what i'd like to see.

The 1911A1 is my favorite and I read that some elite U.S. forces were using it. All the best...

Nothing wrong with a 1911, although the lack of capacity is one of the reasons HK was saught after.

Learn to shoot better...Besides more people can grip the single stacker anyway...The .45 ACP Colt was never meant to be the main battery firearm for the serviceman anyway. Just a backup for just in case and closein and personal combat...

I totally agree with the learing to shoot better, as even people going for their CCW pass without the ability to hit the proverbial, broad side of a barn!
However, and in being a single stack is somewhat easier to grip for many (but not for my meat hooks Laughing ), you never know how many you will be defending yourself against. Therefor i tend favor a double stack over a single (although and even in a defensive situation, i never used more than 3).
And Militarily speaking....My dad was in the Korean war and would talk about his 1911, and how he wished back then he had the ability to carry +1 like the newer ones did.
