Does anybody use them? Reason I ask is because I just put a Lyman 66LA receiver site onto my 336 Marlin and I really like it a lot. In fact I'm going to get one for my 1895ss as well.

Yep, love them. Have one on both my 336 and 141. I would have put one on my 1895 but it is a newer rifle and not drilled and tapped on side for lyman sight. So I mounted a Williams peep which uses the rear scope mounting holes.

Thanks for the reply, roklok. I had never used one until now and I ordered one from Lyman to try, now I'm wishing that I would have ordered two right away. I have only shot about 20 rounds since installing the sight but ya I think it's great as well.

I believe that a receiver sight is THE way to go for traditional lever actions such as 336's ,1895's, and 94's. My youngest brother got his first deer a couple of weeks ago with a 94 and a Williams peep. I prefer Lyman but Williams makes a good sight also and I have 3 of their receiver sights on rifles that are not drilled and tapped for the Lyman. With my Lyman 66 equipped 336 I can bust milk jugs at 200 yards consistently. They give a more precise sighting system than standard iron sights but without the bulk of a scope.

I have a nunber if rifles with Lyman 48 and 57 aperture sights and really like them. Later, I went to Williams Foolproof sights on a few lever guns. Take care...

I ordered another 66LA sight direct from Lyman yesterday, this one is for my 45-70.

I have been ordering Lyman products from MidSouth Shooters Supply and get substantial discounts. Lyman charges full price for their stuff. Take care...

I've got a Lyman peep on a Marlin 1895 and, with a large aperture, I thinks its very fast to line up. I've still got the factory brass bead front sight on it but I have a white bead sight in the parts box that I'll be switching to.

MidSouth has a bunch of rules for us foreigners that want to buy from them but atleast they will ship to us.

Never ordered from them though, but have seen their site a while back when looking for US sources of hunting/shooting supplies. Smile
