|
every 2 year our wild game management ring (WBE 4B vzw) organises the St-Hubertus celebration in the small village Hulsen, which is a little part of Balen. In Hulsen the official saint in their church is St-Hubertus, the saint of all hunters.
And because I know you all like pictures (and I still don't know how to put them on a forum ), I give you the link for a photo-report in a local news-paper.
On picture 22 you see my cesky fousec Hela (see avatar) investing my vet's sheepsdog.
I hope you like this kind of tradition. Just watch the pictures and when you have questions I will try to answer them. Have fun.

Vince, sorry for you but that first picture is not me nor my dog. That's Roger, a neighbour-hunter with his german drahthar. On picture 9 you see a little bit of me, the rear of my dog, my hunting-friend Marijke with Hera (the sister of my Hela). You can check the local news beneath and see the differences.
And picture 35 is almost a family picture with on the left my future son-in-law Bram (who knows almost everything about WO II - Pumpkin, that's the guy who knew your airport...) and the second from right is my oldest daughter Sarah (on normal days a medical doctor, but here organizing our BBQ)
When you want to "taste" this celebration, check this: www.rtv.be/artikels/ni...6-november
and on 8.50 of this local news you can get the feeling (with on 9.10 very little of me with a brown hat, folowed by Marijke and her dog Hera. And on 10.26 our chairman Rudi with his wife, 3 brown german shorthairs and 4 little teckels.)

We "country people" call them horses and those that ride them "folks".
Equestrians is what they call them at the club and competitions that reside outside of the rodeo circuits.
I am a horseman but I have never been called an equestrian......

I, too, am a "horseman" and we don't call them "horseys" either....Unless you're Vince.
