How many of you remember the results of our last national election? No not the poll results, but the results for those of us that enjoy shooting. If I remember correctly the glut on guns, gun parts, ammunition, magazines and reloading supplies started about two months prior to the election and lasted for more than a year afterwards. You couldn't find an AR or AK for sale anywhere and primers were just as scarce. In the case of primers the price has never come back down to pre-election prices and remain about doubled. I have a bad feeling we might be in for more of the same this year. Bud's just reported having two days of record sales this month and I'm personally aware of many that are applying for purchase and/or carry permits for the first time in their lives. These are folks I would never have suspected of having any interest in owning or carrying guns. I know a lot of hoarding went on last time and that may have strongly affected reloading supplies, but it might be a good time to get what you feel you may want or need to have on hand. I hope I'm wrong and I'm in no way suggesting anyone to stockpile supplies like the world is going to end, but it might be prudent to get enough supplies to carry you through this year's election results.

All good points. Some of us have never stopped preparing so that we will have what we need when we need it. All the best...

I just got this today from Brownells, "We made a couple of predictions last month about how to prepare for 2012. If you missed it, we suggested you focus on Ammunition, which we are going to concentrate on in this article.
So, for a quick update: specifically, over the last 30 days, while we were following our own advice and preparing for 2012, we have observed that the ammunition manufacturers productions are at an all-time high and that the customer demand for ammunition is going to more than likely supersede the 2008-2009 “Election-Year Bubble”."

Fortunately I was stockpiled during the last election but was hammered looking for primers and powder back in the early 90's when cigar boy Clinton was in office.

This caused me to take stock of what I had in loaded ammo and reloading supplies. I believe I have enough to last me for two life times. The only thing that really hampered my shooting the last go round was my then dwindling supply of primers. If I can't spend as much time as I like at the range it won't kill me, but as long as I have enough for any and all necessities then I'll be all right with it.

+1 about people stockpiling everything!
I sell mylar bags on ebay, and the sales definitely hits high points these last two years.
Mylar bags are the best oxygen barrier that are easy to handle and seal by common household people.
They block oxygen, and thus stop oxidation (rust) on things they contain.

I just received this in an Email from Bud's today: "If you are not already aware of what is going on in the firearms industry, there is no doubt you soon will be via the media. Our sales in the month of February were over FIVE TIMES what they were back in February 2009 following the last presidential election...and you may recall those were some pretty crazy times !"

I'm starting to prep already. Hate to do it, but I have to if I'm going to keep shooting.
