Another One

Had another visit to the Skin Dr, who in turn referred me to a Plastic Surgeon. The Skin bloke identified another Basal Cell Carcinoma about the size of a match head on my temple and said "we might remove that". Fortunately BCC are benign (as far as I have been told).

The Plastic Surgeon got to do his thing yesterday, so I had a fun day of sitting around the hospital waiting for my turn for him to sculpt my head a wee bit. Stopped eating at 8pm on Thursday night before...got in to the Operating Theatre at about 4:30pm Friday afternoon. Suffice to say that my stomach was screaming blue murder telling me my throat musta been cut.

Anyway. long story short...he hacked a lump of "steak" off me temple and sewed things back into place...doing a slight "facelift" on one side, or so he tells me. Laughing

I'm a little tender and sore today, but at least I no longer have an irritating small lump there anymore, which is a good thing.

And Vince: as long as they can cut it away and it's nothing you can not spare, it will only improve the weight carried on your knees. And once you're old enough, who cares about another scare on his body?

And as long as they find and cut away, it proves that they are searching quite well. It's when they cannot find anything that you have to worry.

Still looking fine...well, I suppose I'm not doing too badly for a 59 yr old mate.

My skin Dr is very good...he doesn't miss much, and you are right about the scars...at my age it doesn't make a difference. One thing I have learned is to not let these things get to me, although I am diligent when it comes to getting things checked out mate. Thanks for your concerns.

Basal cell carcinomas are not "benign." Though they're relatively slow growing and not that aggressive usually, if neglected they can be very invasive, disfiguring and even fatal.

Well Vince! That was "the size of a match head"?? Glad you're OK. Make up a cool story about how you got the scar and enjoy it.

Ummmm....gee thanks Grumps...ya burst me bubble mate...I have always been told that the BCC are harmless and nothing to get concerned about.

Well they are compared to squamous and melanoma, but they do get to be invasive in the worse case scenario.
So what did your plastic surgeon do before he became edumakated? sew wheat bags?
Geez you've added some beuties to the scar collection over the last 2 weeks......

The BCC is the "step" before the SCC (had three of those buggers surgically removed as well)...and melanoma...don't even want to think about them mongrels. They got my brother in law last year.

Scars...yeah...got a few now mate.

Hoo boyo!

Judging from the size of the cut, either the surgeon sneezed when he cuts or the BCC is a wee bit larger than the match head mate!

As Elvis do, I also wonder how come you got less grays than I do?

No mate...about the size of a matchhead. The Surgeon did what he called a "flap"...must be what I can see on my head...either that or he went into a flap and started hacking away. Laughing

Grey hair...nah...not this young fella.
