I am looking (again) a place that sells Hodgdon powder in the eight pound kegs. I am going to have to get it on-line because no local supplies at either of the two stores nearby. (even if they had the powders they refuse to get it in anything but 1 pound cans)
I am looking for H414, H4895, H335, TiteGroup, and HP-38
Four pounds of the two pistol powders might be enough. I am not in a hurry but I know if I continue to practice I will need the powder. I will also need bullets and primers:
180 gr Spire .358, 165 gr BTSP .308, 125 - 130 gr .308, 140 gr .357 and 180 - 200 gr .452
2000 CCI 200 or WLR, 2000 CCI 400 or WSR, 2000 CCI 550 or WSPM, and 2000 CCI 500 or WSP, 1000 CCI 300 or WLP
Like I say, no particular hurry but I will need to replenish stock in the next year. I would like to buy it all from one place so I only have to pay the hazmat fee once.

I have visited some gun shops and many of the more popular bullets are all gone. I will look around this weekend and see what is available or may have come in. The pipeline of components is a bit low right now. I suspect that the initial buying hysteria will slowly fade away and components will once again be available. That could take some period of time. All the best...

Yep! I have checked all the normal on-line stores and their supplies are depleted and back-ordered so far that they are not even taking orders for a lot of the stuff. I do have a neighbor who is a licensed dealer and I am going to see if he can help.

As long as you're not in a hurry, I think reloading supplies will probably get back to quite adequate within 3 to 4 months. I've priced spplies in various places in the past and when cost of components and shipping is considered, I've found Powder Valley to usually be the best for powder and primers.
For bullets, try the Nosler Pro Shop for seconds, various forums, MidwayUSA when they have blems, the forums, etc.
If you want to maximize your savings, you need to max out the shipping weight which, if I remember correctly, is 48 lbs. net weight. In other words, the box will weigh more. If I remember correctly, CCI primers weigh 1 lb./1,000, Federal 2 lbs./1,000 and shotgun primers 3 lbs./1,000 but in any case, you can ask them.

I have them bookmarked in my favorites and will keep checking for availability.
Thanks.

It took almost a year after the last election for things to stabilize. This will be worse. Here is the latest industry update.
Smith & Wesson-is running at Full capacity making 300+ guns/day-mainly M&P pistols. They are unable to produce any more guns to help with the shortages. > > RUGER: Plans to increase from 75% to 100% in the next 90 days. > FNH: Moving from 50% production to 75% by Feb 1st and 100% by March 1. > > Remington-Maxed out! > > Armalite: Maxed out. > > DPMS: Can't get enough parts to produce any more product. > > COLT: Production runs increasing weekly...bottle necked by Bolt carrier's. > > LWRC:Making only black guns, running at full capacity...can't get enough gun quality steel to make barrels. > > Springfield Armory: Only company who can meet demand but are running 30-45 days behind. > > AMMO: Every caliber is now Allocated! We are looking at a nation-wide shortage of all calibers over the next 9 months. All plants are producing as much ammo as possible w/ of 1 BILLION rnds produced weekly. Most is military followed by L.E. and civilians are third in line. MAGPUL is behind 1 MILLION mags; do not expect any large quantities of magpul anytime soon. RELOADERS!!!! ALL Remington, Winchester, CCI & Federal primers are going to ammo FIRST. There are no extra's for reloading purposes....it could be 6-9 months b/f things get caught up. Sorry for the bleak news, but now we know what to expect in the coming months. > >

Only advice I can give on this , " buy what you can when you can".
I'm running a little short on a few calibers , brass and bullets, Sitting good on the primers, made an order on them and some of the powders before the election.
Went by Gander Mountain last thursday there was a line of about 30 people waiting for the doors to open, everyone went straight for the ammo shelves. 22 long rifle , 40 S&W , 9 MM were the main calibers in demand.
No 22's on the shelves except for some rat-shot, just a few of the 9mm and 40 S&W. and of course they had jacked the prices up.

I went to a gunshow on Saturday and picked up one of two SP-100 Ruger pistols - an early valentines day gift for my wife.
I had a chance to talk with a few vendors and most are selling at the normal prices but the local folks are selling at prices that reflect the boom in buyers. There were no bullets, primers or powder at all. What ammo was for sale was limited and expensive.
I will keep checking on line and get what I need when it is available. Right now I don't really need much but that will change as I begin loading after I get my garages built and I have a place to reload without going to my son's. I do have a lot of ammo stockpiled but I want to load some lighter rouds both for my wife and for me - until I can handle the "normal" loads that I have used in the past. My back is getting better and I am shooting better than I was a year ago but I have a lot of work to do to get back to the groups I was shooting before my accident. I have enough powder, primers and bullets to begin the process but it better not take more than a year to get more components or I may start running low.

An addition update with comments from Bob Owens.
They didn’t know when they’d be getting anything back in stock, from magazines to rifles to pistols. Manufacturers were running full-bore, but couldn’t come close to keeping up with market demand. It wasn’t just the AR-15s, the AK-pattern rifles, the M1As, and the FALs that were sold out. It really hit me when I realized that the World War-era M1 Garands, M1 carbines, and Enfield .303s were gone, along with every last shell. Ubiquitous Mosin-Nagants—of which every gun store always seems to have 10-20—were gone. So was their ammo. Only a dust free space marked their passing. I’ve never seen anything like it.
Every weapon of military utility designed within the past 100+ years was gone. This isn’t a society stocking up on certain guns because they fear they may be banned. This is a society preparing for war.
Barack Obama, Dianne Feinstein and the rest of the Statists have done more to promote gun ownership than the NRA ever did. Well done, Democrats!

Anybody ever check GunDeals it's user submitted gun and ammo deals. Check to see how current the deals are before you make a move.

Just been to my local gunshop, got 1000 federal small Pistol ($50) for my 38's and a pound of AR2206H ($45) for my 45-70
No shortages on primers and the only powder that are low in stock is AR2217.

Your prices are even reasonable. I wonder if our shortage will eventually spill over into your market down under.
Might be wise to stock up.
