An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".. To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. 2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. 3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. 4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it! 5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Well said! Socialism has always failed and Europe is a great example of that fact. Most of Europe is turning away from socialism while the U.S. is racing to embrace it. We never seem to learn until it is too late. All the best...

Thats whats so wrong about New Zealand at the moment, Elvis and I work our butts off to assist the Govt in supporting bloody no-hopers. Don't get me wrong I love my country, I love my scenery and life style but for the feckless lazy bludging POCs that I have to clean up after THATS WRONG!

Well maybe if we quit showing them a "good time" when the disasters strike and quit giving aid to every blown over stick house on the beach and boat load of starving, oppressed, beaten, desperate people hanging on by their fingernails wouldn't we be a more proud, heroic bunch of hippies watching them wither and die from the comfort of our easy chairs? You have to change your mind-set (when people are in need) and think about it like giving at Christmas, the "thank you" is you're own ability to feel wonderful about being able to help. The fun is in the giving, not the taking. Imagine yourself in their situation, or maybe it's more realistic for you to imagine being stranded in the desert a billion miles from food, water, shelter, people and help. How many days, nights, weeks or months can you endure it without aid? You need to try that sometime, if you don't have the ability to appreciate what these people go through.

Radar, Elvis it's in your heart and you're just overlooking the meaning of what you do, the end result is something to be proud and thankful for and especially your ability to be the rescuer. If you were the person that needed rescued, you'd be doing everything possible to help yourself and make things right, even down to doing things you'll regret or things that are just immoral to you, but nothing will stop you from surviving and getting through.

Think about how shamed these people are, having done just that and more. There's nothing left for them and they don't care about being naked to the world anymore, they care about survival. What a huge thing it is to have the ability to rescue and pull these people out of oppression and hunger and just barely being alive. What a huge gift to give. It should make you proud to give and you should be grateful to be the giver not the taker. If we end up feeling like a servant, guess what?....we are and always will be, but we have the fought-for freedoms that allow us to be the rescue squad and kitchen patrol and the home and family rebuilders. This is your post. This is why you're here and they're over there. Freedom fighters have to clean toilets too ya know, it just doesn't clean it's self. You can't stop the toilet from getting dirty unless you never use it. Can you stop using the toilet? Oh I'm so sorry I used your toilet, but isn't that what it's there for? Not many places in the world even have toilet paper or flush toilets...glad we do. Clean water is sure nice to drink....we gots that stuff over here...free people have lots of stuff...attractive stuff...stuff to fight for getting to have. Share the ideas it took to have such great toys and you attract the world of oppressed, starving, whipped souls. If you've never been oppressed or don't know what it means then you don't know fear like they do.

Unfortunately Suz, as much as I love and respect you mate, I have to agree with Radar on this one. Here in Australia we are now in the unenviable position of having many 4th generation welfare families...4th generation where they are too lazy to get a job because the Govt will support them with welfare payments.

The system in Australia is different to what you guys have over there...over here they give you a fortnightly allowance to seek work. To continue to receive that allowance all you need do is show that you have made an effort to find a job. Can you imagine an employer agreeing to take on someone who shows up for a job interview filthy and not showered, unshaven, smelly and wearing ripped unwashed clothes...this is how they avoid getting a job...but they did "try".

The other problem is the "medical" scammers....I have a bad back, or I've had a car accident and I can't work. There was a rush of claims for Third Party Insurance (a compulsory part of your yearly car registration) a few years back...some members of the Lebanese community cottoned onto the idea of running one car into the back of another, fast enough to do a little damage (usually paint scratches), but not fast enough to cause real injuries. The driver and passengers of the front car would claim whiplash, amongst other injuries, and the occupants of the car that hit the front car would do similar. They have hopefully nipped this one in the bud now, but there are still bludgers living off the proceeds of the insurance payouts.

Unfortunately we now have a part of society that believes the Govt should support them...I've even heard people say that their "job", that the Govt pays them to do, is to be a dole recipient and find new ways to scam continued payments from Centrelink (our Social Security Department). So long as they have enough money to buy drugs, alcohol and cigarettes they don't care...they even get public housing that costs them next to nothing...and they get a rent supplement along with their dole payment. We also used to have a Baby Bonus of $5000 paid to a mother who had a child ($5K for EACH child)...I'll give you three guesses what became a real "growth industry" amongst teenage girls and drug addict females at that time. Have a "screamin' little sh1t machine", speak to Child Welfare and tell them you can't cope and they will take the baby to be raised in a foster family. Fortunately the Govt has pretty much put paid to that now.

Radar is 110% correct mate...half of the population is working and paying big taxes to support the other half on welfare...and people wonder why economies are struggling.
