According to the news media, we are facing the end of the world. Not so fast, folks. For twenty years I was the Emergency Management Director of my township and learned never to rely on the news media for accurate weather reports. Instead, go to the National Weather Service because they are not allowed to hype their weather forecasts. The National Weather Service usually forecasts lower snow depths. When the media hype reports fails to materialize, the media say that snow depths were less than forecast, but it is their exaggerated forecasts that are cited. The East Coast is in for some snow, it has happened before and I am confident we will survive. All the best...

With the heat we are experiencing down here in the last few days, I would be glad to see some snow.
You keep safe Gil and stay warm.

Yea, when a Columbus, OH forcaster has to blab on ad nauseum about how bad things are down south and in New York, you know they don't have much real news to talk about.

Without the hype, how could they promote "Global Warming", oops "Climate Change", oops we are back to "Global Warming".

You would think the only weather that occurs in the good ole USA is on the East Coast!! It originates on the west coast, Alaska and Canada for cryin out loud. Oh well it's normal stuff for us..

No I think they are stuck on climate change as the buzz word. You see they lost some credibility with first global cooling and when that didn't happen as per the mantra it went to global warming and when that didn't go exactly as planned it morphed into climate change. Now with climate change doesn't matter what happens they have it covered - up or down it changed and we were right!

Well, so far we are about 10.5" short of the predicted 12" we were supposed to get. I understand that the roads are fairly bad though, temps in the mid-20s (F) with some sleet. Yesterday was sunny with a high in the low 40s so I figure the roads melted the initial snow/sleet and then froze over night.

For the second time in 30 years my workplace was closed for "weather" but I think we didn't have a lot of work to run this week so it worked out for them to shut down and save some money.

I think I'll go load up some .223 using the 65 grain Sierra and Dallan's load of 25 grains of Varget...

Wimps... we've been getting this about every week since Christmas:

Went fishing Sunday, had to snowmobile in to the spot... was pretty cool, watched a father / son fill cow elk tags, saw some moose... lots of other wildlife. Then fishing was decent. Overall a nice beautiful day at 7,700ft elevation.

The "Troutsicles?". Kept 4, I think I got a picture somewhere. 2 big "cutthroats", 1 big rainbow, and one huge Mt Whitefish (incredibly tasty fish).

You keep safe Gil and stay warm.

We took three of our grandkids to Movie World on the Gold Coast today...32 C all day with the humidity feeling like it was about 250%...I was sweatin' like a ni99er on a rape charge in Alabammie. Got home about 8pm and the first thing I did was strip off and jump into a cold shower...it was heaven. So yeah, some snow would be outstanding right now.

I had a look at the brewing storm last night online...it's looking a tad nasty for sure. You Nuts be safe and don't go out unless ya havta. I see where they are saying it will be one of the three worst storms in Washington's history. They are also allowing kids to sled on Capitol Hill now as well.
