I find it interesting and telling that the guy who is presented the most distinguish medal for any serviceman (or woman) tells people he is no hero. He thinks of himself as an average soldier. He may be right and he just did his ordinary job under extraordinary circumstances. I guess that is how you know that your buddy has your back. He has a job to do and you can count on him to do it.

He is still a hero to me. He is the kind of man I hope I am.
