|
Just wondering about anyones experiences with accuracy out of TC Encore rifles. I have heard good things and am very pleased with my two pistol barrels(.358 Win and .223). I have always wanted a 6mm-06 and am considering ordering a 26 inch heavy barrel in this caliber from the TC custom shop. How much,if at all, does fore-end pressure(as in using a bipod or a tight sling) affect point of impact on these rifles? Not sure whether to have a Rem 700 built or to go this route.Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

roklok, I have two barrels, a 22 hornet and 243. Neither are heavy target barrels. I get about 1.2 to 1.5 inch groups at 200yds.........when I do my part. Showed it to my son two years ago, he was company rifle instructor for his LAR unit in the Marines a few years ago, he scratched the money together to buy his own-----used barrel. It shoots just as accurate as mine.
He did have trouble putting a bipod on. Couldn't get one to fit without torquing the foreend. The sling does not seem to cause any problems.....that I have seen. I live just 20 minutes from the Thompson Center factory so I can visit and chat. The are a great bunch of people.

I have an Encore, and was wondering if there is anything you can do to lighten up the trigger? This is the only problem I have with these rifles.

Glockman55.....try this link........everything you always wanted to know about T/C's but were afraid to ask. www.bellmtcs.com/store/index.php
Mike is a really decent guy and will help you any way he can. I sent my frame to him to have his "premium" trigger job done (2 weeks out the door and back). You can do the job yourself with the instructions Mike provides for download (if you're so inclined). Surf his site. You will learn more about T/C's than you ever thought existed. No joke.

I'd not fret the accuracy of any Encore Rifle barrel with a good load of good componetry and a 3X9ish or bigger scope...
Not after driving a 15" version that does this well....
Proofs in the puddin'......
I'd not fret an Encore trigger either....mine sweetened up at 2 3/4 pounds........
Crackin' Rifle Stocks though....do worry me.....

My Encore has a acceptable trigger pull and is very accurate with the 14" .358 barrel. I was mainly concerned with forend pressure in the rifles but I have seen hanger bar systems that supposedly eliminate this problem. I dont have a rifle buttstock yet but a buddy cracked his walnut buttstock, sent it back to TC,not only did they replace it they also sent him 2 forends.

T/C's Customer Service is without peer....
If everything gun was made by T/C....we'd be lucky bastids....I know of a good freind of mine who recieved, upon his well worded complaint letter accompanying his very well worn Hawkin back to Customer Service, a free and very informative video..............
and, a brand new rifle.......no questions asked.............
Am thinkin' a thumbholer would solve all stock crack problems...but I can't like the looks of one.
Before looking into "hanger systems" and fixing something before you know it's broke....give the OEM stuff the benifit of the doubt...
I'd wager you'd be pleasantly surprised at what it does...

The picture in my avatar is my Encore with a 15" 308 barrel. I had David White add a muzzle break which makes it legal as a rifle. I bought the rifle stock and forend and had David also drill & tap a new forend screw hole. Then I glass bedded the forend to the barrel, along with adding pillar mounts. The groups went from 2-2 1/2" to 3/4-1" with those changes. I'm still working up loads for it, and fully expect to get 1/2-3/4" groups with it.

Glockman55, I definately agree with Wildswalker. TC is customer service+.
If you want someone to work on your trigger who knows the gun well send back to TC. Tell what you expected (and want) for trigger pull and they will work it over for you.........at no cost.
I am fortunate enough to live close to them so I can just drop the rifle off but they will ship it back to you. They worked my trigger and did a great job.

Don't own an Encore but do have the Cougar Frame model. They shoot very well. Two barrels that I like shooting. 7-30 Waters and .223. Great for deer and varmints!

I had an Encore in 22-250. Accuracy was very good with factory ammo. The grass was greener on the other sid of the fence and I traded the Encore for some other fad of the moment. A Ruger GP-100 4in and some cash.
