Got a winter storm heading over. Winds so far; sustained 44mph, gusting 70+ & up to 100mm of rain forecast.
Wind & rain are supposed to peak in about 8 hours, so I'll be in bed & miss the whole mess.
Glad my roof is welsh slate & I live near the top of a rise. Very Happy

We just had similar weather Thursday: about 4" of rain, flooding, some tornadoes. I heard a big truck coming down the road in front of the house and looked out the window... no truck! But I didn't have any damage.

We had snow JAN 31, 72 degrees on FEB 3, flooding on FEB 6 and snow again today. My sinuses are killing me.

Drenched is an apt description.
The rain is much needed, it is however not always where its needed most.
Some areas are in the drought, bush fire, now flood part of the cycle, other areas are rain? What rain?.
Such is life on the west island Very Happy

That's the worst of it over - streets washed clean here but little else. 30 miles inland where the rain came over the mountains & it's a different matter, with a good deal of flooding & the south of the country had it even worse, with gusts hitting 90mph, trees down & a fair bit of flooding, though not on the Oz scale.
Staying windy & wet over the next couple of days, so the bunnies are safe for now.

Deluge in Sydney.
my workshop is all wet (roof leaks) and my signage was blown off it's mounting.
Lucky all important equipment seems to be ok.

crazy, we got a year's worth of rain on a weekend.

A mate of mine lives in Sydney & he's just back from some time in the bush further north. Said it went from drought to fires to rain to floods in 48 hours.
I'm surprised he made it home, as I know he has a (usually dry) river to cross coming out from the lease.

I’m really enjoying the rain here in a Brisbane, but then again, I’m lucky not to be in a flood prone area. I think the ground is so dry from the recent hot weather we had that it’s soaking up the rain like a thirsty sponge. The catchment areas for our two main dams have also received a good drenching.

I’m not sure if all of the drought affected areas of western Queensland have received rain, but many areas in New South Wales have copped a good deluge. Also, the last remaining fire south of Sydney received a good solid downpour, putting it out after burning since November 2019, destroying many thousands of hectares of bush land and untold homes along the way.

Overall, we have received much needed rain that has turned my lawn from a brown dusty mess to a fast growing green carpet that needs mowing weekly.

Tiks and dhc4ever...how are you guys fairing in the rain...any problems?
Gelan...time to get up on the roof and do some sealing methinks mate. Do you own the shed or is it a leased property mate?

No problem here Vince, minor sporadic road flooding at low areas after really heavy rain.
The lawn is visibly growing.
Apart from that,all good.

I would like to but the roof is asbestos so I am baffled as to what I can do.
It is my own property mate, so I have to bit the bullet and perhaps getting the roof replaced as soon as the prices came down (right now it is skyrocketing due to the number of jobs against the numbers of builders)

Here is the downside of replacement.

So the DIY membrane may be the best answer.

Getting sick of the wind now - been 35-40 gusting 60 plus for four days now & we've snow forecast for overnight.
Hope it clears by Thursday, as me & a mate are driving 250 miles to visit the British Shooting Show.

Thanks mate, I have look into that one, but I do not think it suits me since my property was old and the roof structure might not able to hold my weight.
I did ask them if the product can be sprayed rather than painted, but the answer is no because they are very thick.
So I have to re think on how to do it safely.

I wonder if I can try to seal the leaks by spraying thinned PVA (glue) a few coats over them.

Yes true. and the cost to do my whole property was quoted to be $150,000
$150K dollars that I do not have right now.
So Yes DIY is the answer for the time being.
