Well my family is doing well here in the great white north. Shelter in place is the order until further notice. I come to the library for wifi access but still cannot access my government applications, no email, but can get internet but no government sites will load and when I try I crash.

one question about the "numbers" keeps popping up
if we ASUME the situation in china was untill recently...pretty much the same as elsewhere in the world eg folk going about life as usual....lots of folk in close contact with each other etc
and then this virus broke out and drastic measures were taken to slow it down contain it....this bit we have all seen videos of,eg doors being welded shut to keep folk in...
so why is the chinese death toll so low????
is it massively under reported ????
have those welded up doors been opened again to actually check and see???
or have there been a hell of alot more deaths and the numbers just not released to the rest of the world,as many are now speculating???

The Chinese have a draconian rule and the government can forcefully isolate the mass without having to resort to committee meetings and bow to the meddling bodies that profited from the death (such as media and large corporations that supported the logistics)
If the outbreak starts in any other country in the world, then the result can be much worse.

I do believe you have hit the nail squarely on the head Pete. China have been pushing for years to become one of the leaders in global economics and this virus can, and may yet, severely hurt their standing. For this reason I believe that China kept quiet about the virus when it first surfaced, and not only kept quiet, but took steps to cover it up from discovery by the West. It was reported that the Chinese Govt ordered laboratories and research facilities to destroy all samples of the virus and data attached to same. Elvis also nailed it when he said China may very well (I believe they are) have under-reported actual numbers of infections and deaths. Very sneaky and underhanded by them.
I wonder if there is the possibility of any recourse against China through International Courts from countries like Italy and Spain...not to mention the rest of the world.

I believe that the numbers is the US are severely under reported as well. Except the fatalities. Only the "confirmed" cases are listed, and only a small percentage of those that are sick are actually tested. None of those infected but are not showing symptoms get tested. Tests are only given to the most severe, and only if you have known risk factors, like being exposed to someone that has tested positive, or having traveled to an area where the virus is prevalent.
All of this will skew the statistics and make the illness seem more dangerous than it actually is for the general population.
I do understand that the most vulnerable people need to be protected and take precautions, but locking down the world is a little extreme.

It's the same in the UK but the government has been quite open about the numbers given being those who have tested positive & mostly, only those presenting themselves to the health service with fairly severe symptoms are being tested.
The government itself says the actual number infected will be 20-50 times the "confirmed cases" number, so 40-80,000 in the UK, rather than the 4,000 positive tests.
This is what makes me call BS on China's numbers.

Halfway down this article their is a link to a video showing what is going on in Italian hospitals. They describe from the onset of mild symptoms to sever happens quickly. Sever symptoms are similar to sever pneumonia. Italy's death rate is around 10%

Peep!
Just to show I'm still alive. My oldest daughter is medical docter and it seems that corona is going to peak in my neighbourhood during next 2 weeks. Not so good news for the "oldies". Deathrate is going to double every day now… so without luck I might be contacting you all soon without using the internet... I'll then let you know where Suz is hiding nowadays
I hope not to upset anyone, but when you're getting my age and you're no longer allowed to talk or laugh with it...

I got out to the range the other day for some recoil therapy. There are 2 RV parks along the way. This time they were completely full, no empty space to be seen. Looks like travel folks have returned home with their "isolation pods."

100% true. I have a co-worker with all the symptoms of Covid19, and his 3 month old baby. The hospital wont even test him for it. They said to "stay home and wait it out". He is PISSED over it.
So I 100% believe many people have it and its not being tested or reported.

Now why should he be "PISSED" about not being tested? Go home drink lots of fluids, take a few aspirin and get plenty of rest. Keep an eye on the baby. Where's the wife/mother?
I DO agree that there are a lot of people with the virus, but most will survive. To the [damn he's still alive] of a lot people so will I. I don't (or my wife) have it at this time.
As I sit here typing with a glass of Navy rum in front of me. Been re-tuning my Quadraphonic systems, reloading both rifle and handgun ammunition. Harassing the wife and taking care of my horses.
Stop it Aloysius! You are not going to die. Ya HERE ME!! I won't allow it and neither will the rest of us.
