I bought one as a kit about 20 years ago , and figger it's time to light her off .. Anyone know which balls to use , seems it was 430 , but maybe 451 or 452 , dont remember ..
Anyone have any load data ??
Seems I have read that the brass frame will crack with heavy loads over time .. Me dont think so , myself ..
Jack

According to the dixie catalog anywhere between .451 to .454 should work as some of the ball actually gets shaved off at loading. 20 -30 grains of 3F black powder. I never heard thjat the brass frame would crack but they do have a shorter life than a steel frame. It is important to use wonderwads under the ball or grease on top of the ball to prevent multiple chambers from firing from the fire from cylinder gap.

Don't know much about this CVA but I do know that heavy charges will stretch and then after so much stretching a brass frame will crack at times near sharp angles. Reasonable loads ie. 20 - 25 gr FFFg should do very well especially if you use a felt wad between the powder & ball and then lube on top of the ball. Good Shootin to you. Cool
