I'm talking about backpacks, waistpacks, vests to clothing what ever.
I myself dont like what they sell for the most part for hunting and shooting. It doesnt feel comfortable. Sure a nice THICK pad on a waist pack makes it feel not as heavy but it doesnt let you move around as much for one example.

I have "made" some of my hunting and fishing gear in as much as I made improvements that better suit my needs. For example my hunting pack frame. Not much different than what you might buy except it has wider straps. The "back" is made up of parachute code instead of the canvas material. I modified the frame to hold my rifle. Placed a foam wrap over the top rail, to better grip the frame when it gets cold.
Rod holders are made from PVC pipe. Almost impervious to airline damage. Mine have come through while others are destroyed beyond all comprehension. Plus they float! Made up a plug bag when walk in fishing. Not unlike a fly box, only larger made to hold plugs vertically and keep them separate so the hooks don't fowl. PVC pipe to the rescue again.

I do. I made some take down backpacks for an alaska caribou hunt, they worked ok. Made lots of other stuff too from my ATV trailer on down to some reloading things.

I design my own sand bags (my wife actually does the sewing). I can't seem to make the "store bought" bags last. The swivel stud in the stock butt doesn't like bags I make mine out of nauga-hide (sp?) and they take a lot of punishment.

I have made "butt packs", back-pack frames, and a couple of packs to go on those frames. I made the front rest for my range shooting, a portable shooting bench, a Fackler box to test bullets and loads with and the frame for my chronograph screens. There is the portable loading benches, some of my pilots for trimmers and turning tool, installed needle bearings in the Rock Crusher press that I wore out trying to use it to swage bullets.I also made some portable target frames and swinging gongs. I design and print my own targets too but that probably doesn't count.

I was going to say that I only made small things but kooking at what everyone else has made my list is similar.
As far as packs etc go all I do is modify them to suit my needs and make them more comfortable.
I have made too many things to mention but the last thing I made is a rifle rest to use at the range, works as well as the fancy store bought ones. Welded it up out of scrap steel and made the bags out of canvas. Filled the bags with wheat....bad move...the insects turned it into flour!! Now they are filled with coarse sand.
I'm always modifying something for some reason or to "improve" it. Even made a rack to carry 2 bicycles on the roof of my daughters car. Cost about $4 in nuts and bolts.

Like most, I modify many things to make them more suitable for me. I've had to make slings for my over/under shotguns where the use of studs & such wouldn't be practical. My roll around loading bench is of my design, but, had a sheet metal shop do the fabrication. Over the years had to put numerous devices together to make for a better hunting experience. The list would be lengthy.
Keep it coming...

all kinds of gadgets for hunting, shooting, reloading and handling of things. Some were less than ideal and some worked great.
rifle rest for bench shooting
sand bags of all sorts
fold up shooting table for prairie dog shoots (one of my better ideas)
Loading press stand w/adapters for different presses
adapters for using power tools to 'assist' in case prep
trailer for shooting pds
made several sets of loading dies (actually modified standard dies to accomplish having custom dies)
foreends for my Contenders
Delrin rod guides for Contender barrels
Storage rack for Contender barrels
I have a large maintenance shop that provides me with everything I would need to make just about anything of metal.

Made a "new" gadget yesterday. Placed this in another thread but thought that it is appropriate for here as well.
I couldn't see the sense in paying $35 - $45 for a powder trickler so I made one out of bits and pieces I had in my "buggery box".
The reservior is a cap off an Avon roll on deodorant..perfect size too, and the trickle tube is a piece cut out of the middle section of a broken car antenna tube. I inserted a piece of plastic tubing with an inner diameter of about 3/16" and is a snug fit into the antenna tube, cut a hole for the powder to enter, fitted a rubber knob and seals, drilled the reservior, put it all together ...works perfectly. Waiting for the missus to finish her deodorant so I can use the cap for a base. Cost: $NIL as it is made basically of recycled scrap.
Works for me.
