Help, I purchased a Browning Double Automatic Shotgun and I have been attempting to clean it. I can not get the Trigger assembly and Slide assembly out of it. There are no pins in the receiver like my other shotgunsand I have been fighting this thing for about four hours this afternoon. I know that it is probably something simple that I am not seeing or thinking of but the frustration level is getting to me and it is time to let it sit for a while. My question is, Does anygbody have a schematic or know how to get this thing the rest of the way broken down? I don't want to let my wife or son shoot it before I get it clean. Thanks in advance, I know that most of you know more about this stuff than I. I am used to the Wnchesters and Browning pumps, in other words, simple like me.

Tim

The beauty of the design is absence of any pins or screws through the receiver - very cool. Takedown is easy once you get the hang of it. I’ll give you as much detail as you need, but for now I’ll just answer your question and assume you know the rest.

1. Remove the barrel and stock.

2. The trigger assembly is held into the receiver with two what Browning calls “trigger guard fastening guides”. Basically, these are rectangular pins about 1-1/2” long. The pins are located inside the receiver on each side of the trigger guard. A notch is cut into each pin to catch with a small screwdriver or buttonhook. Pull the pin out far enough to be grabbed with your fingers or a pair of pliers. Be careful not to wedge the screwdriver against the receiver and mar it.

3. The pin on the left side of the receiver is slightly longer than the one on the right. My ‘memory trick’ is “Long is Left”.

Hope this helps Smile

Dimitri

Dimitri, I see the notches that you are talking about, however they are one piece with the trigger guard. I have taken some digital pictures of them and will try to E-mail them to you. I don't want to fill up Dallans site for this, now if I get a deer or something thats different. Anyway, this does help but it does not fit the gun. I also am attaching a photo of teh Slide assembly, as you will see, the pull back is a three inch long part, where with my other shotguns, the finger grip pulls free of the assembly and the slide comes out. Thanks for any help or ideas.
