Since I started shooting I always shoot prone on the range, with a few sand bags for rifle support.
Lately, my back gave up a bit (due to some over indulging in the local beer I suppose) so shooting prone is no longer as fun as it was.
Going through the websites to find ideas about portable bench rest, I was going to custom built one. Then, discussing the funds with my missus, she is the household treasury you see... she point out that she is throwing out her old ironing board and I should consider to use it instead of squandering $$$ to built something similar.
So.. here is the result.
Bear with me, I never posted a picture here before.. I hope it works
Oh yeah the rifle perching on it is my NEW 300 WHISPER !!!!!! Tadaa !!!

Ha Ha...
Yes I did bolt it on.
Err.. some details, the rifle rest is actually an old tripod head, so I could crank it up and down then fasten it .

Well done mate. I am assuming that it works ok.
Can't help feeling though that it might be a little unstable or "wobbly". Its been a long time since I had any contact with an ironing board...ironing...thats the missuss's job but from memory they aren't all that stable.
Oh well, as I said...if it works, then it is good.
I have some plans somewhere...well pics and instructions...for a portable bench that is supposed to be pretty good. If I can find them I'll post them.
Cheers, Vince

Ya Bushy, WHat's up?
The board I bolt on the top came as a secondhand I found in the recent garbage throw out day. It already have the cut out the way it is. But it is quite handy because I have my own spare tires to carry.
It is quite steady, and I could put my foot on the leg cross brace to make it even better. I am going to (now don't be rude !) spread the legs a tad more to make it even more stable.
The beauty of it is that I could adjust the height and it folds out really thin.
So there..

Gelan:
And here I thought I was the only one to do something like that. Actually, I like yours better, because the legs have four points of contact with the ground, not two, like my personal board, which had "T" shaped legs.
Light, portable, steady enough, and did I mention, that is one handsome shooter? (The gun, the gun!)
Now that I think of it, I'm going to check out the second hand stores, and see if I can find me another one for just a few $.
Merry Christmas to y'all, you hear?'

.
I'm hurt, the last time around the missus did say that I'm the handsome one.. not the gun.
The gun is actually unfinished. I am yet to take it to be fully bead blasted (including the action) so it is in matte and then blued (or is it blacked? ) black
