I just spent two great days hunting with Worthington Hunt club/Timber Mallards in Olive Branch Illinois. We hit the flooded green timber and had a great time taking several green head mallards, two black mallards, some wood ducks and a group of teal that dive bombed our hole. My group had 22 ducks in two mornings in the woods. If you are in the area there are two weeks left in the season, if not consider going there next season. Good people and a well managed hunt. Guides Michael Dixon and Tyler Story or Steve Story do an awsome job bringing the ducks to you. They work hard to make sure the spread is set to draw the ducks across your position. These guys have probably forgotten more about hunting waterfowl than I will ever know. Very Happy

BTW, Olive Branch is at the junction of the Mississippi and the Ohio near Cairo Illinois, at the southern most tip of the state.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Get to shoot alot of ducks everyyear but haven't shot in flooded timber before. Maybe someday.--tr

That cold will go away. But you will have the memories for along time to come. Hard to beat a good duck hunt no matter what the weather.--tr

I'm envious Dawgdad.
How much will it cost my Son and I for a hunt next year.
What is their package like with the costs???

Drop me an e-mail if you don't want to say in public.

Thanks,

Eric Marleau

Eric,

C.J. Wortington is the club owner and manager of Worthington Hunt CLub and Timber Mallards. You should call him next fall and book a week there. 618-766-5333. I think he is in Florida fishing right now.

If the rates stay the same, it is $100 per gun per day for the timber and $75 in the flooded corn field. We have had great hunts in both places but the timber is really special.

There are a few rooms available at $40/ night but it is just a clean bed with a hot shower. Nothing fancy. There are kitchen facilities and refrigerators available and there are a few places to eat nearby. Ouida's Horse Shoe Bar and Grill makes the best cheeseburger on the planet.

I normally go for two day weekend hunt with my son and my nephew and will spend about $900-$1000 for the three of us on hunting and eating and the room. Sometimes more if I get generous tipping the guides like I did for the great hunts last time!

Make sure you ask for Steve Story or Michael Dixon. Dixon is not there the entire season but when he is there he is a hunting machine.

Dawgdad

Thanks Jeff,
I will get permission from the War Dept.[Wife], and I think that we will be down there.
We have been in that area for some of Ben's AAU Baseball Tournys, and I isn't a bad drive at all for us.

Will keep in touch,

Eric Marleau
