I purchased this gun about a month ago and I must say that I have never purchased any gun in my life that shoots as well as this .223. After I got my loads down and sighted-in, .5" groups at 100 yards are no problem whatsoever. In fact I would say the gun shoots better than I can. What can I say, I'm happier than a pig in s$!*.

If anyone else has the same gun I would like to hear your experiences and what loads you may be using.

My load.........
Winchester brass
Sierra 52g Matchking
24.5g H322

I've held one of these and the thumb hold seemed a bit small for me...seemed like it would rub right on the knuckle of my thumb. a .223 this wouldn't be any issue, but what if there was some recoil? guess it would be time to get a new stock or to pull out the rasp and the sand paper.

Matt

Morax & bodyalter...

The stock is Boyds. Although Savage does not advertise them on their site, some major wholesalers apparently contract with Savage and have the stock, action, and barrel assembled. This gun is only sold through Jerry's Sporting Goods. My dealer didn't even know it existed until I told him where to look.

I've seen Boyd's thumbhole stocks on Rugers, Remingtons, and others. You can actually purchase directly from the company or through retailers like Midway.

Matt- I did handle a Howa in 30-06 with a Boyd's stock that was called a Sporter and it had a completely different feel than my .223. I suspect that they compensate for the larger calibers.
