Do you like fireworks but you can not buy them or use them because
their illegal in your state
lets try to get them legalised in every state in the good old USA

try this
wright letters ,send faxes and emails to your local law makers
in your state CAPITAL
telling them why you want fireworks legalised
in your state Very Happy

First we must send all the parents back to school to learn how to "supervise" their children. How not to set our forests and grass lands on fire and how not to blow hands and fingers off. That you don't set off sky bound rockets in housing areas. A lot of parents of today lack parenting skills because of not caring, drug burnouts, or other stupid reasons not to be watchful parents. Some even see kids as an unwanted by-product of sex.

At present we have a deficiancy in the intellect of our adults of this beautiful country that have a real problem with matches and punk sticks. (I wonder how many even know what a "punk stick" is).

When you raise the awareness of the adult population of this country and a more caring attitude for safety and more common sense. I might be abliged to join you in this endeaver as I miss personal fireworks myself. But when you have people setting off bottle rockets and other sky bound fireworks in housing areas and parking lots next to forests...NO!!!

Not sure how you mean that Crackshot? I got sick and tired of seeing rockets landing on my roof when I was still living in town. Kids blowing their fingers off because a drug burnout didn't care if their kid held the firecracker. Too busy tokin'...

I really miss have a back yard or open dirt field family fireworks display, But we do pay for the few who don't know that fire burns...

I dont exactly see this thread as an "announcment", although I do agree with being politically active on important issues.

I love fireworks and usually make a run to Wyoming to get my stash for the year... its ironic they ban fireworks in my state due to "fire hazards" yet wyoming which is MUCH drier has them, and failes to burn itself up year to year.

Moving this thread to general.

I can't agree more Bushy. Like you, I too miss personal fireworks nights, but as you said.....First we must send all the parents back to school to learn how to "supervise" their children. By the way mate....what is a "punk stick"? It wouldn't be a cigarette would it??

Have a read of my post in the Joke Section....very pertinent.

I'm jealous Joe....I used to love our "Cracker Night" (Fireworks Night).

I usually go down to NW Missouri, Watson or Rockport or around Watertown, SD to get mine. Watertown has WAY BETTER fireworks! And we let them go on the weekend closest to the 4th out to my mom and dad's about 7 miles outside of Mo.Valley, IA. We usually have left overs as it gets too dark for us to see what is in the bottom of the box before we finish them off. We usually have some kind of outdoor cook-off also and of course some good cold beverages both "leaded" and "unleaded" and we sometimes invite others to come out and help in the display or even to bring thier own and set them off with us. We also try to keep the hose close by with a slight stream of water which when under pressure will be more than enough to take care of any problems and I try to make sure I have a bucket in case the neighbor(he loves our displays) field should catch a spark ond flare up.

I would have to agree with the older salts on this one though. Too many dipsticks out there have been abusing them and it get's the rest of us a big case of "too bad, so sad, sucks to be you!" Kind of like the people who think "deer camp" is the place to get drunk and then go out the next morning still walking and talking like a monkey. Does wonders for the image of "hunters." I use that term sarcastically of course.

Edit: For those who do not know what a "punk" is; it is nothing more than some sawdust and some type of binder holding it together so it will smolder letting you light(ignite) the fuses of the fireworks.

They're legal in some parts of the state. What gets me is the town I grow up in couldn't have them but 10 miles over you could get almost anything.

There...See...Aaron knows...Any of a variaty of sticks, man made or of nature, that will maintain a hot coal at one end that can be used to light fuses for fireworks or other explosives...

The fireworks are legal in Washington (the state) but not in all of the cities. On the flip side you can travel 25 miles from any city in the state and be on an indian reservation where the fireworks are not only legal but they don't have to be the "safe and sane" fireworks that the state allows. (can you say BIG boomers?)
Even though they are illegal the valley that I live in (about 8 miles long and a mile wide) becomes one big fireworks display from about 10 PM on the fouth to 3am on the fifth. Oh and then there is New Years Day and Chinese New Year. Not many citations are issued, people get hurt each year and there are house fires too. I have had two fence fires attributed to fireworks in the area - I don't use them since they were banned. I don't miss them and I wish that those who used them in an unsafe manner were prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Some of the stuff that is launched into the air around here are true artillery weapons. When my dogs were alive I would bring them into the house and watch them cower in the corners while the fireworks went off. No, I don't miss them.

For every irresponcible adult I know at least 10 more who are responsible.(me and the wife being 2 of them) We enjoy fireworks and have our own litle fun a few times a year with them and for over 20+ years no one has been hurt.
Bushy, What I meant is....Why should I and my family suffer because an idiot 500 miles away burns down his friends house because hes irresponcible and doesnt use fireworks safely?
