Cheers LOVE THE STUFF. Can't get enough. My tea is more like syrup. When we went through the south we stopped at this little dinner (The families livingroom) and had some tea. My father hated, my mom said it was okay I asked for more sugar. I was told that I had come home and that I belonged in the south. Now I drink, when I can find it, the Arizona Sweet Tes but it still needs more sugar.
Very Happy

rdncktink,

The Arizona Sweet Tea is the only premade sweet tea I know of, I generally do not add more sugar to it though. Laughing

didn't know if in other parts of the country they had better stuff. I used to drink a mint tea from snapple but can't find it any more. Or a lemon grass tea from some company when I was in college (undergrad).

Sweet Tea is one of the basic food groups in the Deep South. Here in South Carolina and Georgia, it is just assumed, that when you ask for iced tea, you want sweet tea. We drink it all the time. Easy to make too.
Put a small pot of water on the stove and bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and toss in three or four Lipton Family Size teabags and let it steep (sit undisturbed) for at least 30 minutes or longer. Then find a pitcher to pour into. First pour in your preferred amount of sugar and pour in the still warm tea. Stir to dissolve the sugar and fill the pitcher to the top with cold water. Grab yourself a glass full of ice and fill er up. Enjoy.

Yotebuster,

You didn't just do that. Gave me a real recipie to try it, which was the reason I havn't made any myself yet, wasn't sure what was a real "Sweet tea" way to make it like its supposed to be made. Shocked

Now I got the urge to go buy some Lipton Family sized tea bags and make some for myself! Oh Lord have mercy on my soul and waist line! Very Happy

Thanks I just copied this down into my little "Cooking book":

Remove from the heat and toss in three or four Lipton Family Size teabags and let it steep (sit undisturbed) for at least 30 minutes or longer.
Then find a pitcher to pour into.
First pour in your preferred amount of sugar and pour in the still warm tea.

Use to drink sweet tea now I drink unsweet and love it . Make it the same as yotebuster without the sugar. It has to be so dark that you can't see through it.

Before I came down with Type II Diabetes (wonder why?) I would pour sugar in and stir until no more sugar would disolve and a layer of sugar on the bottom about 1/4". Now that's sweet tea!!

Yuck Yuck Yuck Yuck

I drink both tea and coffe white without any sugar at all. Sometimes I drink Chinese Green Tea, the type that they put in a strainer and run boiling water through it into a cup...thats it. It is almost clear but beautiful. When it comes to coffe I really enjoy a well made Macchiato.

Used to put sugar in my brews, but not anymore.........unless of course we are talking about my home brew beer. Very Happy

Cheers, Vince

Being a Southerner, I know most of the households of friends and family you will find Lipton on the shelf and in the fridge.
and on most porches or back decks there is a large glass jar with tea bag tags hanging on the outside and Lipton tea on the inside before the fridge batch is gone.
lots of lemon and sugar of course.
green teas are good, but nothing like a large glass of Lipton coming out of 100+ heat .
First thing you always ask when a guest shows up "would like a refreshment, tea or lemonade?"
always had a hard time deciding, elders say it depends on how hot it is outside.
My family would never buy the Arizona teas for they arent freshly brewed teas.

regards

Popgun

thats how most of my cousins drink it 1/4" on bottom. Personally l like it without sugar. learned to drink it without when most of my family was diagnosised with diabetes.

regards

Nothing like a hot cup of strong coffee with a dash of whiskey to warm the cockles of your heart...
