Going on a little camping trip with my grandson and a buddy of his, we have a three day weekend. Here's a link with a couple pictures of the spot. The only thing missing from my camp will be a certain woman from Montana the photos of White Lake and Rainbow Falls is where we'll be.

I'm jealous.
I have hunted Manitoba for Geese and Ducks many times, and always dreamed of hunting in Northern Manitoba.
If there is one place that I could live in, and be a citizen of, it would be Manitoba.
It has the ABSOLUTE NICEST people in the world, and the most diverse and beautiful country that I have ever seen.
Heaven must look like Manitoba.

Manitoba means where God sits.

This is my backyard and where I want to take you(Tracker) camping and not too far from here is where we will be hunting.
Manitoba is nice but here is breath taking

three frozen days:
First morning up and out of tent...greeted by the snow
No ten heater, not propane or kerosene gas
They say that the Creator sat here, I don't know
But if He did...He froze his ass
Manitoba=manito: spirit, api: sit, awa: right here, actually is a reference to the Narrows between Lake Winnipegosis (little dirty water lake) and Lake Manitoba
The name for God/Creator is Kitse (Great) Manitou (in Ojibway would be Gitche Manitou and sit would be abin, with the "n" barely heard, there are a lot of similarities between Cree and Ojibway and actually quite a few between Cree and Blackfoot (the Assiniboine are a subgroup of Blackfoot) farther west. The Cree enunciations are usually softer than the Ojibway (ie K or G, ts or ch)
Just if anyone was wondering. Anyway, it was the worst spring weather possible for camping but we had a great time. I left my grandson in charge of the camera so I suspect all of the pictures are going to be of these two girls they met in a neighboring campsite. Sure did miss that gourmet camp cooking I was so spoiled by on last year's camping trip.

so...the words when spoken would have been kind of conjoined...run together quickly....sounding like manitoapwa. What's really cool is Winnipeg, it means dirty water. I always imagined the first European explorers asking their guides, "what's this place called?"
"Dirty water"
"Great! Let's build a city here!"
It might explain a lot about the way that 1895 and I both feel about that city in modern times

Well your grandson at least has his priorities straight.
