So maybe a field cannon would look good in the front yard. Laughing

Now thats interesting.

It is very common to see artillery pieces, and I even saw a submarine piece, out front of Returned Services League clubs. The most common are old 25 pounder howizters and the ubiqitous 40mm Bofors. However, every one of these old pieces have been rendered inoccuous by welding up the breeches and cutting into different parts with a "gas axe". The last unit I was posted to before discharging had a WW I German mortar/howizter (out 8" bore) that had been welded/cut and the breech block removed (damned if I know where you would get ammunition for it !!) and an old OLD muzzle loading cannon from somewhere back in BC (it is old) and they even welded up the touch hole on it !!

Don't know how you would go if you wanted to put one in your front yard though. Would imagine that it would have to be registered in some way and also rendered innocuous.

Cheers, Vince

Most are deactivated for reasons beyond me, legally speaking they are not a firearm to Canadian Law or according to our CFC, and even if they were registed they would be legal to own anyways as most are single shot big bore "rifles" so to speak that travel UNDER 500fps, and there are no caliber restrictions for rifles here so even if they do get "put into the system" at some future date they will probably still be legal just like any hunting rifle. But as of now they are legally the same as a air gun as they do not meet the speed of 500fps or more to make them a firearm in Canadian law. Smile

Mind you any 40mm Grenade lanchers need to be registered now because there is high velocity non-exploding rounds the CFC claims you can "buy" (Actually US doesnt allow export but they can be purchased from other countries in many different types as long as they are not flatchet rounds or explosive), and most of them that can be fired without being attached to the rifle are restricted because they are under 660mm. But there is a good thing in all o this, now its as easy as importing a rifle to import them as they now have a legal definition as a rifle in Canada.

gelandangan...I agree...

Tracker...Your ol' lady wears combat boots!!...

There's that camo bra stickin' me right in the eyes again...It's a good thing I'm an adult and can resist the temptation...Remember...I AM, however, going into my second childhood.
