I'd be more worried about the snakes than the Croc's, at least you can see them coming..

Awww....poor harmless snakes. They gotta survive too. Have a look at this one:

A big Aussie Snake

Photos of a snake caught on an electric fence on a sheep & cattle station
near the NSW town of Nyngan....a country town in north western New South Wales.

Some tourists on holidays came across the snake caught in an electric fence, being continually shocked, and getting very angry!

The group wondering what to do, decide to divert the current cut the wire
AND let the snake go! (As you should do). When the property owner found
out he went ballistic, besides being upset about his fence, the snake had been eating lambs in the area, and he'd been trying to track it for ages.

He did not appreciate the help!

Australians are used to a big snake or two, but wait till you see this oldfella! The snake is a Carpet Python. Been a while since I saw one this big though.

Just a harmless house pet Vince.
A neighbour used to lose a few chickens,
They knew it was the local carpet snake.
Then one night when they went to bed their dog wouldn't settle down.
They had to get a broom to shoo the snake out of the house.
I picked a small one up one day and was surprised that the mouth opened up over 180 degrees.

Damn! Look at the chompers on that sucker! If that is a carpet viper than I am switching all my floors over to either wood floors or tile, I will go home right now and cut out all my carpets! Sorry mate, you may like the little legless beasties, but I am not a fan at all - used to until I got bit by a momma rattler when I was 12, ever since then I avoid them at all costs - never could get back up on that horse and try again. I have a hard time watching shows on the telly about snakes - let alone sharing a continent with them. I think I will move to Ireland and learn to thatch roofs.

As big as a sissy as you seem to be Wiley. ROFL :fence:(takes one to know one) Hiding You may not want to learn how to thatch roofs when you get to Ireland. You wouldn't believe what lives in those thatched roofs... Very Happy

Hey, don't get me wrong guys.....as much as I like snakes I would give this guy an extremely high dose of healthy respect.

Carpet Pythons are generally pretty docile and although they will bite it is really only after pretty well extreme provocation. I am actually looking for one to put into the roof of my house to stop any rats, mice or possums taking up residence....its quite common over here in this part of Australia, in fact most people don't even know that they have one living in their roof. Shocked Laughing There are a number of different types of pythons in Australia and one that is usually kept as a pet, by those that have a reptile keepers licence, is a Children's Python....a lovely snake. Confused

Hey Wiley.....he's only a python mate....not a viper. He's non venomous, but will bite if he feels the need to; and I wouldn't like to feel those fangs burying themslves into my meat.....be a tad painful methinks.

Cheers, Vince

When they bite, it is to hold and swallow, things are really hard to get untangled from those teeth.
I think a bear or large cat has got to be heaps scarier then a couple of teenage reptiles.

You won't get any argument from me mate. I can out run a snake, and have done on a number of occasions....but out run a bear or big cat....I don't think so.....my freckle would be draggin' on the ground behind me, slowing me down. Shocked Very Happy Laughing
