I am new to the whole reloading game, but I'm trying to learn. I'm looking at getting a rifle chambered in 22ppc, but I want to see how readily available the brass is for it. I have done some searching around on the internet, but to no avail so far. I figured at least someone on here would have an idea of where to get it?? I'm not sure exactly what I need though. I read that it was based off the 220, but if the brass is readily available, I would pay the extra money to get it ready to load.

try this: www.eabco.com/brass01.html
Apparently ya get the 220 russian brass, run it thru a 22ppc die and then fire form it and you then have 22ppc brass. Midwayusa is a good place to get 220 russian brass.

Check them out and give them a call. If you call you will not get someone on the other end thats just taking orders .They are all shooters and reloaders that know what they're talking about. And of corse they'll sell you anything you'll need to reload with.

I haven't reloaded nuts since back in the seventies.

If it were me I would go with a 22BR as brass is far easier to locate and you will effectively have the same performance in both accuracy and speed.

Cody it would have been better if you had posted this with your question about the rifle you want to buy, then folks would not be trying to help with other cartridges.

Go to this site and do a 22 ppc search. You will find brass, dies, etc.

Norma makes 220 PPC brass and it is available from Huntington's in Oroville, California,

Priced at $67.98 per 100 pack

They have a huge selection of standard and hard to find brass available.

R. Huntington, of course, is the founder of RCBS. If you are in the Oroville area, stop by the store and see their firearms museum. Its well worth the effort.

Thought that was Vernon Speer, R-ock C-huck B-ullet S-wage. Where he made .22 Bullets from .22LR cases with this die or bullet swage?

Actually, it was Fred Huntington and the year was 1943. Arron is right about how RCBS came to named, however. The Speer brothers and Huntington were good friends and I have no doubt that Vernon used the A2 for swaging those bullets.

Huntington's first major development was the A2 press, the predecessor to the RockChucker, however, it was a bit larger and had more leverage. Early presses carried a manufactured date stamped on the top that continued through the RockChucker's early days. My A2 is stamped 1952 and my RockChucker is a 1960 model. The A2 slants at an angle a bit more than the more upright RockChucker and I find it is still one of my favorites, although, the early Bonanza CoAx, which I bought in 1970, is another wonderful press of earlier days.

Two years ago I returned my RockChucker to RCBS to replace some worn link pins. It was returned, fully rebuilt, no charge. That press had done yeoman's service, loading 150 to 200 rounds a week for about 34 years. The stronger, heavier A2 has never required repair over the years, however, the RockChucker is easier to use. Now, I use the A2 primarily for case forming on several wildcats.

Today, several firms offer excellent presses, but, most are patterned after the RockChucker, now that patents have expired. Unfortunately, cheaper presses have also become available and while they lessen the initial investment for the person that is starting up, they are prone to premature wear and failure due to the weakness of the cast aluminum relative to cast iron.

Yep, You buy an RCBS for life, not 5 or 10 years.

I will probably go with that option.
