Had a knock at the door last night about 2130hrs...found my next door neighbour, a lovely young single 32 year old lass standing there. She said:
"Can you help me with a problem at my place?" Of course, quick as a flash, I said, "YES".
Now before your dirty minded buggers start guffawing and nodding your head knowingly, check out the pics below.
She has 3 chickens in a fully enclosed coop/pen that she keeps for eggs. When she got home from work late and went to collect the "cackle berries" lo and behold she had a visitor there with similar intentions.
I picked up her "visitor", a 2m long Carpet Snake, put it into a pillow slip and took it about 400m away and released it into the bush.
Cheers, Vince
Credit for pictures goes to my 18 year old daughter Lyndall.
She really surprised me when she actually stroked the snake then asked if she could carry it in a pillow slip to the bush and release it. Normally critters terrify her. I'll make a hunter of her yet.

Is that your pet snake Vince???? |
No mate...not a pet...its as wild as they come. He had a couple of swipes at me, but I was onto him and quick enough to avoid his chompin' gear.
I would have loved to have kept him, he's certainly a magnificent and healthy fella. I'd put him into the roof of my house to keep the mice and possums away, but "She Who Must Be Obeyed" will not let me have a snake. Another problem is the Government. To keep snakes you need a license and every snake or part thereof must be registered...this includes any skins they shed.

Aah...That's what you were talking about...Yes...Now I have read/seen your last post. Nice snake. Looks a bit skinny and under fed. Should have at least let it have one egg...

Well, I don't know if he had designs on an egg or two, or a chicken or two. The chooks are just coming out of the Pullet stage so they are only laying small eggs and they are pretty small themselves.
He felt pretty strong and healthy, although a feed wouldn't have hurt him.

Yeh...I spotted the sandal you found. I didn't want to say anything in case it was your normal dress or CRS set in again...Ya need to cover those chicken legs though...

I really have to be more careful how I open these threads. I fast scrolled right past the first bit of text to the photos and immediately thought "What's that hideous chicken legged one sandaled creature attacking that harmless snake?"

No snakes here that big that I have seen, if I ever go to Australia you need to show me how to catch snakes like that Vince.
