HELP !! Can anyone help me find a magazine latch for a Rem. 581 - 22 rimfire rifle ? It is probably 25 years old . Just as I was going to give it to my Grandson , I discovered the magazine latch was broken off . It is spring steel leaf affair , extending out the bottom , it holds the clip in . Rem. no longer has it . Most folks here locally have no idea what I'm talking about . Thanks in advance ,
Tom

Tom,
I know its not what you want to hear but E-Gun Parts is sold out, and Brownells doesn't list it nether do the other few websites I went to.
Perhaps call E-Gun and ask them if they have any or have anything similar that will work for the gun.

Tom,
I'm not 100 % positive, but I do belive the 581 and 541 share the same magazine.
The 541 is a popular .22 with benchrest shooters in the sporter class.
Checking the benchrest fourms could lead to a parts soure or gunsmiths that might be able to help you !!!!!!!!!

I made one from some heavy banding material and some careful work with hand tools. I could not find one for mine either.

Also try Numrich Arms at www.gunpartscorp.com/. They carry a huge assortment of parts for older guns.
