So guys as promised pictures of my trip to Oregon.

I mainly stuck to the eastern/central part of the state however.

Malheur county (they are in Mountain time) pictures, its a dry arid area with lots of sage brush. They irrigate the fields there with a reservoir/canal system. Its kinda neat really talked to a couple of people who work and/or manage part of the system.

Now this is more central Oregon, aka, Baker country (they are in Pacific time), in the mountains, specifically the Wallowa National Forest/BLM area where I did some camping.

Now for a few pictures of one of the irrigation reservoirs where I went "fishing" and saw my first diamond back rattle snake. Laughing

Oh and a picture of the unshaven ugly one (aka me).

I shot a copperhead the other day. Much smaller. About 18" long and 1" to 1 1/4" diameter. Neat markings, but my colt is in the next pasture over, so Mr. Copperhead had to go...

I don't really know my snakes to be honest. Laughing

Was kinda neat, but beaten to death then beheaded moments before I got to it. Was too boney to make it worth cooking (like a long turkey neck) so I didn't bother trying it. Laughing

By the way the local beer is nice. Had some Widmer Hefeweizen made in Portland and if I was 21 I'd have brought some back with me. Laughing

Thanks for sharing your trip with us Dimitri. I grew up just to the east of where you were, in Idaho on the high desert plains. Love the country!! My first encounter with any snake was a diamondback rattler and pot full of little babies!! She was angry so we hightailed out of the area with out further ado!!

Sounds like you had some fun. Why does everybody hate snakes...i have one as a pet right now and have had two others in the past. They aren't bad creatures just have to watch your step around them. Especially the poisonous ones. On the subject of horses and snakes, I have three horse and board three others and have not had a problem with rattlesnake bites, they are there trust me i personally have found two.

I don't hate snakes I just don't know much about them. Hense why I get the names confused. Smile

Personally I always wanted to try snake since I was like 4 years old and well I saw too many Vietnam movies showing them eat it. Smile

Great pics 'Mitri.

The first three are very reminiscent of some of the areas I hunt out here in Oz....dry, treeless and rolling hills. Magnificent country.

Looks like you had a good time mate...catch any fish? If so, where are the pics mate...c'mon...bring 'em out.

Cheers, Vince

I threw my line in twice, had been talking instead of fishing, which is normally what I end up doing anyways, my brother is the fisherman, unless there is yellow preach around then you cant seperate me from my rod and the water. Laughing

atrox...I too, have horses and this spring my colt (and his curiosity) got it on the nose by a copperhead.

Note caveman club nose, almost swollen shut eyes and all around general miserable appearence...Was in pretty bad shape for about 24 hours. I just don't need vipers around my horses...

Dimitri...I really am glad you enjoyed that area of Oregon. It is a very scenic state...Especially in the volcanic areas...
