So anyway...
An ounce (volume measure) of water weighs 1.043 ounces (weight measure). I am going to make a float with a tether for my digital camera, for when we go kayaking, etc. I was trying to figure out how big (volume) a float to use.
(Do you think that will change the course of this thread??)

the color code of resistors are as follows
Black = 0
Brown = 1
Red = 2
Orange = 3
Yellow = 4
Green = 5
Blue = 6
Violet = 7
Grey = 8
White = 9
Which many try to remember by making a sentence such as
Bad Bastards Rapes Our Young Girls But Violet Give-in Willingly.
Not that this would make any difference but I think it is another good trivia.

You're not talking about the difference between a liquid volume measure and a dry-material volume measure, are you?

An ounce volume measure? (Sorry, I answered your first post before I read the second) Where did that come from? Which snake oil salesman sold you that?
Unless.........this is something like the difference between the metric systems measurement fiasco that caused the failure of that Mars robotic explorer. (there's a difference between the English metric system and the metric system that the rest of the world uses........remember.....the o-ring fiasco)

I think a better way to state this is 1 ounce of water (weight) only needs .9586 ounces in volume to contain it.
On the other hand 1 ounce of oil (weight) requires 1.088 ounces in volume to contain it.
By filling the 1 ounce container full of water you end up with 1.043 oz in weight.
By filling the 1 ounce container full of oil you end up with 0.919 oz in weight.
So as you can see oil displaces more area than water thus the differences.
