Can't use handguns in Canada for hunting, therefor a carbine is the next best choice.
As for keeping this topic on topic, it was in jest, because I read the thread and how it was supposed to be in another section, but figured I may as well push this topic off topic by pushing it on topic for this section.

Oh yeh...9mm caliber confusion...Now I remember. Not a darn thing to do with hunting small game. Don't think a 9mm of any size would be a good hunting round, but...To each his own...

I am going to disagree with you Bushy, there are many 9mm rounds that are plenty for large game. The 9x57mm Mauser, the 9mm Jonson, the 358 Norma Mag, 350 Rem Mag, 35 Whelen, plenty of 9mm options to choose from.

I know Bushy, I had to be a smart ass because you said "9mm of any size"
Still you dont think a 9mm would do for a small game round? Jack rabbits and Coyotes mainly.

You would have to get pretty close for the 9mm to have any chance of hitting anything. I have never heard of any platform for 9mm that had any accuracy out to the distance you would be shooting at for either one...

Well from a carbine barrel I figured it would be alittle better, at range, under 50 yards or so for jack rabbits. Considering everyone I know uses a shotgun and they limit themselves to ranges closer then that even.

The 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellumm etc was answered about 5 pages a go. As for small game that is my fault my original question had nothing to do with little critters. I had one to many tabs open and got the wrong category. I'll turn my back to the fire and open a bag of upper cuts.

I don't like rim fires, every time I load the magazine on my 22LR, I keep thinking one of these days I'm going to hit the rim too hard on the magazine lips and its going to go off.
