Get a Barnes Manual................... or use Hornady bullets in yours like I do and IMR 7828 in my 25-06, try it, I bet you will like it...................... Smile With 7828 I am capable of top velocities, no problem in my Rem 700 BDL and very accurate in mine. I might add that there isn't a Sask Whitetail or Muley that hasn't fallen with one round of Hornady 117 gr from my 25-06 no matter what the range.

I normaly use RL22 and IMR4831 with my 100grs TSX with good result, but I just got RL17 from a friend who used it for is 300WSM.
In the new Reloader's guide from Alliant Powder, they are listing RL17 for 100grs Speer bullets with more speed than with RL22. So any data for the TSX with the RL17 are welcome.

Thanks

Well if you really want to use the TSX get a Barnes Manual................... but IMO for deer the tsx is not necessary. The 25-06 is a deer cartridge after all. I have taken whitetail at 460 yrds with one shot with the Hornady 117gr BTSP #2552 over IMR7828 and never thought twice. Get to know that 25-06............... Smile

By the way I have used my 25-06 for Sask whitails and Muleys for 25 years or more and with all the 20 plus guns in my safe that is the best deer rifle, bar none. Short or long range IMHO...............

I do have the Barnes Reloading Manual, No. 4,but has you might know the RL17 is a new powder and no reloading manual that I have (Speer#14,nosler #6) including the Barnes has listing for that powder.
I do know my 25-06 since I am hunting with it for 10 years. I did kill many deers with the 100grs TSX and I would like to try with a new powder.

And that's a very good question. Why change for a change? Better only change when you can improve!

Alliant lists Reloader 17 with the Speer 100 gr BTSP with a max charge of 53 grains.

But you can't use Speer data with Barnes bullets..............

I just received an email from Barnes:

Although we don’t have any data using the new RL-17 in the 25-06, 100 grain TSX/TTSX, it is fine to use Alliant’s data for lead core bullets. They show a maximum of 53.0 grains. Reduce by 10% to start. As always, be sure to start at the minimum and work up slowly, watching for signs of high pressure. Here is a link to their data area: www.alliantpowder.com/...fault.aspx Thank you for your patronage.

Sincerely,
Ryan Keele | Tech Support/Customer Service

Barnes Bullets, LLC

So I guess I will have to work up a load and let you know .
Thank you
Laurent

But you can use it as a basis to start for another round with a similar weight.
