Ok, I took the challenge! This is not an easy task. Using bulk .22 LR, my AR 22 was not accurate enough to complete this task and I didn't want to waste a lot of match ammo trying to find one that would group well enough, plus my true purpose for being at the range was to get the new scope on my AR-15 and test one of my .270 loads. My Ruger 10/22 with match ammo should have been up to the task but the scope keep changing its POI (its gone after today). So I got the new Hawke scope mounted on the S&W M&P and used some 69gr Sierra Match King and went to task despite the cost (I'm frugal). 21 shots in that small a space is not easy and a rifle with better than MOA accuracy is required, even at 50 yards. The AR was up to the challenge but due to poor planning, I have yet to take the final shot at the center. I accidentally had a box of 40grs mixed with the 69 grs. I was running late so headed home to meet my son to work on his truck. I will have to finish the challenge later - that is if anyone else is going to accept the challenge.

ok ok SlimbittyJimbo there's enough excuses in there for me too. So if everyone reads Slim's excuses and just dittos it to me then that's my excuse also. Except I forgot to punch the center of the target. This is with a 10-22 and a bi-pod, sittin on my butt and it was way too hot to be out there, but this is my first try. I'll try again, it's actually a very good learning tool and I think I got better as I went along. At least mine looks realistically poor! Sheesh SimboJimbo has all the excuses but doesn't have anything to be ashamed of! Well Done SlimJim!! That was a task! I just noticed I only shot 19 rnds...

Suz, you're supposed to shoot the numbers in sequence, 1 to 20, then the bull. When you miss a shot, you are supposed to stop.

NICE SHOOTING Slimjim !!! Did you really run out of ammo, or leave out the bullseye to encourage someone to try to beat you?

I haven't been able to find (or afford) high power ammo for my old .22 It often jams (doesn't eject) the low powered cheap stuff.
I may have to cheat and give it a go with my .204

Again, that was some great shooting, Slim. I don't see any powder burns either.

Suz, as you found out, not so easy was it! I didn't do as good as you with my 22's. This wasn't me shooting good, it was my rifle. I was using sandbags. This exercise makes me want to get an aftermarket trigger for my AR. Shooting 20, uh 21, shots at that small of a target got a bit tedious so I took a break and went over to the 250-yard range to check my new scope. If I hadn’t done that I would have had enough of the same ammo. The Fiocchi boxes all look the same and I grabbed one in 40gr when I thought I had 69gr SMK.

Thanks for giving it a go Suz! Who’s next!!

I think you should show your target not matter what you got...heck I was proud of mine. Yeah that 10-22 trigger of mine needs some tweeking too, it would make a world of difference. I thought that was a lot of fun, i sent one to my nephew...see if he's into it. That would interesting at 100yds too with a huge target.

I left mine on the target board so can't show them now. There were not near as good as yours plus there wasn't much to show because I only got a few hits before I missed a number.

That's actually some fine shooting, Suz. I was a bit bleary eyed last night and didn't see your target for what it really is.

I would gladly join this except I have a Winchester M290 which is quite accurate and up to the job. It's the Weaver V22-A 3 X 6. It just won't magnafy out that far. But...I will practice a bit more and see what I can do. The rifle/scope combination does not have a problem removing the red dot in the middle though. It's just those numbered wedges it seems to balk at.

yeah, I got this idea - and the target - from another website. Seemed like a great idea. Then I tried to actually see the target at 50 yards with a 22 having a cheapo scope.
I think that with an extra target at the bench for reference I may be able to give it a go. (My target is gray and white, though. Tough.)

When it gets back below 90 I will give it a try with the 45-70 I'm guessing the holes are going to be a little big for the target.

Wow, now there is a potential advantage. It will be fun to see your target. I think it will impress folks on just how small these little pie slices are!

Ok, Suz. Now there are some excuses!! Too hot in Missouri or even as far North as Minnesota?!?!? Last I checked, you couldn't drive any further North than Minnesota and still be in the USA!
