I hate bisleys. Love plow-handles. SBH hammer is good enough for me.

Your pistol is a winner man, wow that came out NICE.

Congrats!

I'm not so fond of the looks of a Bisley but that grip sure handles the recoil well and there is beauty in function.

Bisley grip is for target shooting.
It actually transfers more recoil to the hand. It don't roll like a "plow" handle.

I also don't like the lentgh of pull with them or re-cock'ability.

Just my .02. Some folk love them. They do look neato though.

I don't like bisleys, but I do like his application of the Bisley hammer.

Oh- one other thing. Noting handles like a short tube SA. So quick and nimble in the hand. I bet you cannot wait to give it a twirl and a shoot.
All my short tubes are DA. I intend to have a short tube SA someday, preferably a matched pair cuz that would make it twice as nice. Very Happy
I also envy you SS, I'd never dream of doing something like this. Pride in ownership should be with you in spades and I hope she exceeds your expectations.

Cool

No argument there and I love that lil Colt of yours. That .357 is a keeper and I think Colt was making those just prior to them stopping the SAA the first time if I recall right. (sorry- thread jack... Mad )

I bought the Colt brand new in 1966.

I've been tempted to send SingleShot Lover my Ruger to shorten the barrel. Might even have him install a Bisley hammer...

Not a bad idea. I like his choice of stocks too...them ivory stocks really catch my eye. And if they patena up it'll be a bonus.

I wanna see some more pics of this pistol, has me kinda lusting for it now...

Not as quick to handle, but remarkably accurate at longer distances - I like the 10 5/8" barrels myself. You almost hit your ear with your elbow drawing them, though (haha)
When they were in middle school, my daughters loved shooting my long-barreled .44 Mag Two of them preferred the .44 special rounds, but Tessa would get mad if she didn't get to shoot the Mag rounds.
Those plow-handled Rugers really tame the recoil with their rolling action, and so does the long barrel.

Again, very nice restoration job, singleshot. The shortened barrel must have that pistol handling like lightning.

Thanks for everyone's kind words. Kind of surprised at the interest level. I'm hoping to get the new sight (it arrived yesterday) installed and give it a whirl. Depends on the weather and Mama's lists.

Since the grips are polymer it's doubtful that they will change in coloration even with age. Yes, it seems to handle pretty fast...better than my 5 1/2" Super Blackhawk. Shooting will be the real test.

Bushy...it shouldn't be a problem for you to install a Bisley hammer. Order one from Brownell's, lay the original on top of the new one using pins to line up the holes (and thin washers to make the original one stand off from the pad on the hammer spur of the Bisley), trace the original contour onto the new hammer and grind and file away. It's very obvious what needs to be changed when you see them side by side.

I'll have to look into that. Thanks.
