Thanks, Stovey

My daughter just showed me how to crimp a grilled ham and cheese sandwich - time to go eat.

Ok I got the new stock installed. Had to do some inletting but it was pretty close already. I didn't like the barrel channel because it wasn't tapered like the barrel. Way too much space between the barrel and the wood, so I sawed off the wood and added my own with a narrower barrel channel, it looks much better. I used lace wood and also took off the cheapo butt plate and made a lace wood butt plate. I also epoxy bedded the action. The recoil lug area of the stock was too generous anyway. It shoots good with the bi-pod but I haven't bench rested it yet.

The last photo is my shooting range, I wish I knew how to make the pictures bigger. I think I've tried all the options on Photobucket. Any suggestions? The very center of the photo you can see a small whitish block, that 's the 100yd spot.

Suz, it looks like you did a VERY nice job there. I'll be waiting for some shooting reports. I really ought to get mine out and play with it.

Maqwa! HERE'S a really good set of photos of lace wood and I think he tells about where it's from (Australian I believe). It's a hard wood but very easy to work, I've only used it as decorative trim on furniture, but had this 4x8 in. chunk layin around and it was perfect for what I needed.

Pumpkin!! Yeah, I'll try and shoot some this weekend. My birthday on Friday and I'm going to the coast, but I'll probably shoot on Saturday although we're getting some weather this weekend. The tuna are coming in close and Jon wants to see about a charter. I haven't been to the coast in 2 years, can't wait.

Thanks ALL for the nice comments!!

Suz

Suz....HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATE for Friday.

Here's hoping you have a really great day and weekend fishing. Hope you do heaps better than I do...all I ever seem to do is fatten the buggers up with my bait for others to catch. Laughing

Back on topic...that lacewood is certainly one of the species we have out here. We have some fairly nice looking timbers in our scrub land.

Cheers, Vince

Ok Pumpkin (these are not contest photos, I just used left over targets) I went out today and shot with my bench rest at 100yds and 50 yds. I'm showin my second 100yd target because my first one was messy. Had to adjust the scope and then shot my second one. I kept noticing flyers but don't know if it's the first shot or not as I can't see my shots through the scope. I allowed a cool down after 4 rnds. Only shot 3 targets. I thought it would shoot tighter groups but it's better than it was when it was in the military stock without any bedding.

This is the 50yd from the photo above

This is the 100yd

Dental rulers are handy. Not too bad except for the errant ones.

There was something weird going on in the forest and I noticed it the last time I was out there too. I can hear trees falling but with out any chainsaw sounds or wind or anything. I can hear the tree cracking, the crash through the limbs and the thump when it falls. Today I heard it twice. It's like there's an elephant pushing over trees. Lord help me!

Bigfoot?

What ammo are you using Suz? I found that the Swiss military stuff was awfully accurate, 1.5" group at 100 yards. My handloads haven't touched that, yet...
