Vince. I don't think your second set of photos made it (too much whiskey).

That is just downright weird mate...they are showing quite nicely on my screen. Best I maybe re-post them.

Vince, I even tried to use the direct link with no luck.

OK...have deleted the pics, removed them from Photobucket, resized the pics, reloaded them into Photobucket and reloaded them into The Nut.

Has it worked this time? I can see them ok...but I could see the others that nobody else could?

Let me know if they are not visible.

Cheers, Vince

Well, sort of. Them is awfully small pictures for such a big party rig in the big land of "Oz"! Got any higher resolution ones? I can't tell if the Fourex Angels have stubble or not. Maybe do a dedicated topic in the General Forum, since we wondered off topic.

Bud Lite!
Tikka T3 Lite!

Rb

I would pick the /06 any day over 300 win, whether you roll your own or use factory loads, there is simply more bullets available for the /06. and cheaper to load.

Want to shoot varmints? 110gr bullets from Barnes.

150gr to 165gr for deer, antelope, goat

180gr for elk, moose.

200gr Spitzers at 2756fps with 62gr 4350 = 3400me

220 to 250gr for imposing bulk and bad temper.

Heck you can even cast your own and throttle it down.

I don't think there is another caliber with the range of hunting options available to him better then the 30/06.

For anything in North America, it will do the job.

Not to mention several other continents including Africa (except for dangerous big game)...

You all make a lot of valid points. I guess its gonna come down to how I react when I shoot each caliber. Elvis makes a great point in what my reaction is going to be when I pull the trigger of the 300 win mag. Fortunatley I can have a go at both guns to see what will happen before i actually spent the money.
I have a feeling I may be spending a bit of time on this site. Great site, great members. I can't thank you all enough for your input. I really appreciate it. The ballistics software is really cool too. I'm pretty sure my buddy will be a new member before the weeks out.
I'll be checking in on a regular basis, thanks again.

Decisions, decisions! Aren't they fun. Neither caliber is a bad choice. Stovey must be out on vacation again. Otherwise, he would be yelling "go for the 300 Win Mag!"

BTW, weight of the rifle has a definite impact on the recoil you feel. I shot a 300 Win Mag for the first time last month. I long-range shooter let me take some shots with his Accuracy International. With scope it must have weight 13 pounds. My .270 with 110gr bullets kicked way more! But then, my Tikka is light enough I can carry it in the field all day long.

Hey Bushmaster,

The X-Bolt was one of the rifles I handled and I did like it but I liked the way the Tikka came up better. I do like the feel of the X-Bolt, The synthetic has kind of a almost sticky rubbery feel to it. I will however go handle them all again before the big sale gets here. I really want to make sure I'm happy with what I get at the end of the day.

If you go with the Browning you then have the option of the BOSS system !!!
It will definitely tame the recoil of the 300WM........just remember to take some sort of hearing protection to the woods.
