Yeah, but...1911 are designed to fire the round in the chamber even if the magazine is not inserted. Set the safety Chambered!!

I would check it to be sure but I bet there is nothing in the chamber either.
As I told my kids growing up -

All guns are loaded and all knives are sharp. (even after someone else checks them)

Paul S I agree. one of the best ways to demonstrate this is to unload a shotty etc and lean it against the wall beside you turn and talk to your kids while your buddy RELOADS IT. then turn back around picking up what WAS a unloaded firearm saying" I know this is unloaded cause I ckecked it just before" and then point it in a safe direction and pull the trigger.
they yell sqeal squack and block thier ears while you continue to argue "nah nah Iknow its unloaded." gets the point across real fast you dont even need to pull the trigger but the kids sure get the message quick smart.

Sweet set up. I dragged my system with me all over hell's half acre while I was in the military. I had two JBL summit speakers that got me into some trouble when I was at CFB Trenton. Four weekends as Base Duty NCO. Sad to say the summits had to go also due to room space in barracks. Now I'm down to a small surround system to listen to CDs or XM Sat radio.

Yeah, I was wondering if anyone would comment on the safety location on the blued Essex/Springfield combination once they started on you. However, if you look really close (poor picture quality I know) you will see that the upper portion of the safety is just in the slide-lock notch, so it really is in the "safe" position. That safety was an extremely low-mount "combat" safety I found in a parts box at a gunshop. No name on it and I never have seen another one like it, but it provided minimal contact and an extremely short throw (the lever was parallel to the slide when in the "fire" position). I never really felt overly secure with it and replaced it with a Wilson.

Since I'm pretty sure you know what you're doing, I'm staying out of the argument! Ignore
