Hello all again and thanks for the welcomes- the savage has been one of my "pet' guns for the last couple years- its as addictive as any gun I've ever had-.. the ONLY questionable problem with the Savage came from 1 guy that was employed by Savage to promote the MLII and was found to be putting out false test/velositys/ect among other things.....he was then fired from Savage -shortly after his firing this 'Expert's" gun mysteriously "exploded" the barrel- and tried (unsuccessfully) to extort money from savage- (He had NO injuries at all!} most think a long pull string was involved...(and get this- he still uses a savage 10MLII) enough of him... The MLII has been evolving over the past couple years and the Smokeless powders used have migrated away from the first powders used( lil'gun, 2400, 4227) these were fast 'pistol' powders that develope high pressure quickly to get a velosity in the 2200 fps range- but barrel pressures with fast powders are very sensitive to just a couple gr. weight difference. Now we are seeing meny more users shooting slower 'rifle' powders like 4198, 2015 and 322 - and barrel pressure is down,velosity is up past 2500FPS and accuracy is great. we are in the ballpark of the old 45/70 & .458 Winchester cased loads... I like 68gr. H4198 to push a 300gr. ,458 remington HP w/orange MMP sabot--its my currrent hunting load- shoots well at 200 yd and a MV of 2450fps....Rick
