- Feel free to modify and pass along as appropriate to your own personal geography!
Due to the popularity of the 'Survivor' shows, Alberta is planning to do its own, titled "Survivor - Alberta Style".
The contestants will start in Cold Lake, travel south to Medicine Hat then west to Lethbridge, Fort McLeod and on up to Calgary. Then they will head north to Red Deer and Edmonton. From there they will proceed west to Hinton and north to Grande Prairie, then up along Highway #2 to Slave Lake, Westlock and St. Albert. Then they will go to Ft. Saskatchewan, Vegreville, Vermillion and Bonnyville before eventually returning to Cold Lake.
Each will be driving a pink Volvo with Ontario license plates and bumper stickers that read "I'm a queer vegetarian", "Beer is harmful to your health", "Conservatives stink", "Rae in 2008", "Deer hunting is murder", and "I'm here to confiscate your guns".
The first one who makes it back to Cold Lake alive wins.

yorg, that would be a contest that would be hard to survive indeed! I think the Volvo could make it though.

The thing with Volvo's is the US, Canada & Australia never had the real fun one - the 480:
I had the 2litre non turbo version - good for 130mph due to weighing a mere 2,200lbs & handled like it was on rails.
Four years ago & looking 50 in the face I grew up & bought a truck.

We got the 440 out here Mike...but it was a bit of a lemon. Along with the 360, it didn't sell very well at all.
I've never pushed my 960 to the limit, but I know that it has plenty more to go at 180kph (112mph). Only problem is, the fuel gauge and the tachometer both travel at roughly the same speed, only in opposite directions.
I have kicked the idea around of throwing a turbo on my 960, but it is getting a bit long in the tooth now and the idea of a late model common rail, turbo diesel is very enticing.
Cheers, Vince
