Remington just announced that they are bringing out a 1911 .45 ACP handgun in June 2010. The link below offers more information. I recently acquired a Colt 1911 Battle of the Marne from the 1960s so I am not in the market for a Model 1911, All the best...

Remington and their parent company has been significantly expanding. Besides Remington and their Military, LE, and Custom Shop, they own Marlin, H&R, Bushmaster, DPMS, Panther Arms, Dakota Arms, and now Barnes Bullets. Not surprised to see them expand into the pistol market.
I had to use this link.

Interesting to see them getting back into production. Most are probably aware that Remington/UMC made 1911s for the government for a brief period at the end of WWI (1917-1918). Surprised it took them so long to get back to it.

Do we really need another 1911 on the market ???
I doubt very much I'd buy one but I do want to get my hands on one to see what kind of quality we're talking about !!!

I don't like chasing the brass...
That's why I traded mine for another gun and a lot of reloading equipment.
I did have to shoot a 2' group with it to sell it - not that the new owner could expect to do it.

I do not see how you would chase brass less with any other handgun.
Unless it was a revolver????
AH HA maybe that is what you traded for a revolver!!! Ok I can see that now.

BINGO!
All my handguns are wheel guns, with one exception - my dad's Ruger 22, I inherited it and it still shoots as well as ever! (I don't have to chase 22 brass - just sweep it up.

I like it, but I would have to get my hands on one to see how well they are made.

It depends who made it and whether is has multiple locks and safeties on it. If it checks out OK, I may be interested. Take care...

Every time I shot my revolver, I felt like I had 6 guns to clean. So I traded my revolver in for a pistol. PaulS, we would make a great team!
Joking aside. Anyone acquired the new Remington 1911? Cabela's got them on sale from the 5th of May to the 15th for $669. Not much cheaper than retail but with my $25 off coupon it might be time to take one home.
