They still have summers in southern England but up here we seem to have missed them for the past 14 years, unless they only last a week.
Annual rainfall varies from 20" in the south to 140" about 20 miles inland from here.
There's a big variation from 40" here on the coast, to 60" nine miles inland where my parents live. Another five miles up the valley from them & it's 100" & just over the head of the valley is Seathwaite, wettest place in the UK. It holds the UK record for most rain in a day too - 12.4" in November 2009.
