So I found out today that 303 brit brass can be resized to load for 30-40 krag. I know 303 brit brass is easier to get ahold of around here so I was very happy to hear about this. I began checking into it and discovered that when this is done because the case length is shorter on 303 brit that long term use can cause chamber errosion because the bullet it seated further back then what the gun is designed for. What I was thinking is usually larger bullet weights tend to be longer bullets, couldn't I just seat the bullet closer to the lands in order to correct this if I were using say a 180 gr or larger bullet?
Any thoughts or ideas would be helpful.

Changing bullets wont fix this, as it is the shorter neck on the brass that allows the hot gases to impinge on the chamber wall in the neck area.

Exactly how much shorter does the neck end up when using .303 brass?

I doubt that any throat erosion will be critical unless you shoot the 30-40 a LOT.

Sinclair has 30-40 Brass in stock - OK so it's Remington & $54.25/100....

Personally I prefer to just use brass with the correct head stamp on it. Try Midway:

And a lot less chance of picking up the wrong ammo by mistake.
