Not sure weather this was better in the humorous forum or not because its soooo true!

Police: . . ..

Question:
How do you tell the difference between a British Police Officer, an Australian Police Officer and an American Police Officer? I also added a kiwi perspective.

Answer:
First - Lets pose the following question:

You're on duty by yourself walking on a deserted street late at night.
Suddenly, an armed man with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife, and lunges at you.
You are carrying a Glock ..40, and you are an expert shot, however you have only a split second to react before he reaches you.
What do you do?

BRITISH POLICE OFFICER:
Firstly the officer must consider the man's Human Rights.
1) Does the man look poor or oppressed?
2) Is he newly arrived in this country and does not yet understand the law?
3) Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?
4) Am I dressed provocatively?
5) Could I run away?
6) Could I possibly swing my gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand?
7) Should I try and negotiate with him to discuss his wrong doings?
Cool Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it?
9) Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society?
10) Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?
11) If I were to grab his knees and hold on, would he still want to stab and kill me?
12) If I raise my gun and he turns and runs away, do I get blamed if he falls over, knocks his head and kills himself? .
13) If I shoot and wound him, and lose the subsequent court case, does he have the opportunity to sue me, cost me my job, my credibility and the loss of my family home?
AUSTRALIAN POLICE OFFICER:
BANG!

AMERICAN POLICE OFFICER:
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! 'click'....
(Sergeant arrives at scene later and remarks: 'Nice grouping!) LOL

[u] My take on the NZ Cop

Bang! or even Bang! Bang! ...........but not Bang bang bang bang bang!

BUT

Mandatory standdown period of about 6 weeks
3 phase Homicide investigation which will take weeks to clear the officer of any wrong doing
Court Case which will take several months to clear you
Private prosecution by Family of the deceased which gets thrown out
Coroners court which whilst critisizing Police Training and the officers thought processes will clear him of any wrong doing
A rabid and frenzied legal, media, and Political attack on why was the cop armed, why not a taser, was this racially motivated etc

My take is
Its better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6

Andrew (a cop)

my personal take is that for every bad guy shot, the cop should have get a medal!
Either that, or lawyers should serve as civilian peace keeper personnel for 6 months before allowed to practice.

Or in Aust Capital Territory:- Spray offender with capsicum spray, (no effect), watch as your partner is bludgeoned unconsious, then the perpetrator attacks you with 5 foot long immitation samuri sword, breaks you knuckles on your left hand as you are holding baton in defensive position, then while lying on your back and perp is standing above you, finaly you draw service pistol and fire one shot centre of mass and take the spine out of the "now victim of police brutality". Six months suspension on full pay, various hearings from police investigators, all clearing the officer involved of any and all charges of police brutality.
Then eight years later hear result of civil suit brought against, yourself, ACT government and ACT police. Five million dollars awarded to the family of offender, for damages caused by Excessive Police Force.
Makes you wonder why they even sign on in the first place, Job satisfaction, desire to serve the public, man I wouldnt even do it for ten times the wage that these blokes and girls get.
Happened to a mate of mine.

Rule of thumb I've "heard" many a Police Officer say is..."Dead men don't tell lies".

I've even heard it said by one guy..."ensure the dead criminal is armed; if not before the shooting, then definitely afterward" wtf

It's unfortunate that Police have to think this way, but, certainly in Australia, it's the fault of the judicial system...or should I say legal system. It certainly seems that criminals have more rights than the Police or the victims of crime.

Cheers, Vince

Recent events here prove that our Plods are just as fast at shooting an armed criminal as elsewhere - & we have the riots to prove it. Very Happy
