Rant

Just to rant a bit but "carbon fiber" is a composite material, that tells you nothing of its true properties, other then its a great marketing tool. Just as the name "composite" itself tells you nothing.

There are composites made of polymers and "carbon fiber", "cellulose fiber", "Kevlar" and even metals. All of their properties are very different. the latter type, metal reenforced polymers, that use a special blend of metals in the plastics, can substitute many types of metals, and are much stronger then say cellulose based composites or even the "super duper" carbon fiber polymers.

So, don't worry about what ever marketing spin they have used, just shoot the thing and enjoy it.

Just cause one rifles hammer is a composite, or listed as such, doesn't mean that your receiver has anywhere near the same properties. But by the same token just cause someone claims their "carbon fiber" receiver is better then a composite one, well you know they are full of it, cause their receiver is still just a composite receiver.

Cause we can debate about the benefits of composite parts all day long, but 99 times out of a 100, the real type of composite blend being used, is very different from one component to the next, never mind company to company using "proprietary" blends.

It reminds me of people comparing ceramic knives to metalworking cutting tools, also labelled "ceramic". Therefor must be "one and the same". My vise on the kitchen table is also a ceramic, but last I checked, I can't use it to cut into hardened steel. Rolling Eyes

Don't forget to report how it shoots Suz.

Yeah I sort of had that way of thinking too. A composite is a composite is a fancy way of saying it's not something else. I guess that's why the one company chose to say their's was carbon fiber, which is also a composite but is more identifiable to the general public. ANyway, can't wait for an upper....it'll be a while before I get one tho. You all will be the first to know of any future additions....holding your breath is out of the question.

Suz
