i am begining to think that the 22br is the right choice for me. here's the deal... t/c encore, 24-26"mgm barrel, and 40-55 grain bullets (maybe 60-65 gr). the choice for me comes with 2 twist rate. 1 in 14" or 1 in 12" twist rates?
i'm just not sure which to go with....

yes the encore is worth it. brass will not fall apart, and the myiad of other questions.

2 16 1/4" mgm barrels 6.5 creedmoor and 20 vartarg, and a contender in 7x30 waters, i shoot them well.

i take any advice you can ponder!

When I shoot .224 bullets, I prefer 1:8 twist so I can handle 77gr SMK. 1:7 will make 40g varmit bullets come apart so both these twist are safe for light bullets. If you want to shoot 60-65gr, you better go with the 1:12.

Good choice - comes close to the .22/250 with most loads. You might want to investigate what it would take to chamber and load for the .22 BR Norma instead. Since either one is pretty much the equivalent of a wildcat anymore, the Norma is said to be able to get more velocity with a little lower pressure even though the basic dimensions are nearly identical except chambered for a longer neck and throat area to allow seating bullets further out. Norma has brass, but you might have to research dies.

As SlimJim mentioned, the faster the twist you can get the better.

i think the norma is not quite what i want. what i'm looking for is 50-65 grains.

Here is a wild suggestion, buy a Tikka T3 in 22.250 with a 1:8 twist. You can shot 75gr A-Max and really get out there. Tikkas have great accuracy and since the actions are standard length, you can load the COAL long with a mazine modification.

The Remington BR series of cartridges are all excellent choices !!!

Using 60 grain and heavier bullets I'd opt for the 6BR over the 22BR.
None the less I doubt you'll be dissatisfied either way.

The biggest issue you'll have is brass. To my knowledge there is no 22BR brass available and the 6BR brass can be necked down but can be difficult to obtain.

Most re-loaders use Lapua brass for the 6BR Norma.
If you do some internet searches you'll find info on what needs to be done to the brass to use it for the 22BR.
