#1: "light" 45-70 loads Author: XTARHEEL, Location: Darien, IllinoisPosted: Sat Nov 03, 2007 5:48 pm ---- Hi guys. I've been gone from this sight for a few years. Popgun, remember the Ed's Red I sent you?
Anyway, I have a question. I recently completed my collection of all the most commonly issued US military long arms from the 1825 musket to the current M4gery with the purchase of a 1873 Springfield Trapdoor made in 1878. I believe all of these pieces need to be shot, so I was wondering if anyone had any recomendations for a load that would be apropriate to shoot in a rifle of this vintage?
Collection includes:
1825 US marked Valley Forge musket converted to percusion
1863 Richmond musket
1873 Springfield "trap door"
1898 Kraig .30-40
Rock Island '03 Springfield (1909 mfg)
Springfield '03 Mark I (milled for Pederson device)
Remington 1917 "American Enfield"
Remington 03-A3
(3) M-1 Garands, 2 WW-II Springfields 1 Korean vintage H&R
Inland M-1 carbine
Springfield M1A
Rock Island National Match AR-15 lower, with M16 A-2 upper, M-4 upper

Have a look at this thread. It will be a pretty good starting point for you.
