Well Guys, not to brag on my wife, Mizz Dee, an exceptional woman.

I got a Lee Load -Master, an additional O press and all the accompanying goodies needed, well over $1500.00 worth of goodies. She also gave me an upstairs bedroom to turn into Hunting, Gunroom. And this is a big room 14 x 18.

I could not have been happier.

A great woman, a living Saint, and the love of my life. Very Happy

Oh Yeah and Dimitri,

If you don't have any kids now hurry up and have some, they are the greatest, and their kids are even better.

I say get them out in the woods early to learn to appreciate nature and the wildlife. I have read many of your posting and am sure you are one of the good guys and will teach them well.

And, as gelandangan wrote pray that we all have the liberties that we do today to continue our pursuits and to be able to pass what we know on to our kids. Very Happy

Kids are great, and I enjoy taking kids of friends etc outdoors to show them how to fish at first, later on I get into the hunting with a detour on camping and the wilderness inbetween.

However I first need to find a girl who will take "No" as a answer. Cause the biggest "splits" with women I have had so far are:

  • Me saying "No, you will not pay for the date I will"
  • Me saying "No I got it" when lending a hand and they don't want a guy to help them because "a girl can do it too" as they try to do something they cannot physically do.
  • Me saying "No, I won't wear that fuirty colored top and wear my jeans 2 sizes too big without a belt on", or some such argument about them saying I need to dress more "fashionable".
  • Me saying "No I will not give up my hobbies just to make you happy"
  • And lastly "No, if and when we do have kids I will be taking them fishing, camping and hunting whether you like it or not".

The last 2 get used in the same conversation generally. Laughing

Dimitri,

Wow, you sound like you've had some bad luck tracking down the right woman, keep trying though she's probably out there, maybe a little north of southern Ontario. Are you near Tpronto, love that city. Spent some time there on business and pleasure.

One piece of wisdom I've picked up along the way though is you can't train them, although it's best to let them think you are trainable. Been married 39 years, and all to the same woman.

And Yes Dear, is the best thing you can say, oh, and don't ever ask for permission, just do it and ask for forgiveness. After all what can they expect we're just men.

Have a good time hunting them.

D, you were born 30 years too late, the women have changed a bunch from then. My wife is real good at accepting how I am and my hobbies. But it's a two way street. Been married 31 yrs. I guess I'll keep her, Hell I'm retired and she's still working, that should tell ya what kinda gal she is. Keep looking for the right one, she's out there.. Good Luck

I reckon compromise is the best recipe for a good marriage.
Of course the usual, "yes Dear, of course it is my fault" helps too..

I have had some bad luck, I don't let it get to me. I am sure I'll find a girl in time. There have been a few that looked like they'd work out that ended but there are plenty of fish in the sea.

As for Toronto, as a rule I avoid picking up women from there. I try to pick up girls out in the country or even in the smaller cities the girls are more level headed.

Perhaps I was born 30 years too late or perhaps I just grew up watching old movies made 30 to 40 years before I watched them. Guys like the Duke are the ones I idolized not the pop stars of my generation. Laughing

Gelan,

Compromise is good, but there are just some things I wont do. And personally I don't try changing the girl when I am dating her ether. If changes are needed then are you really "happy" with that person? Confused

I got a 1950's f.n. receiver, I think I'll build a .256 Newton. Yes my wife got it for me, but that's as sloppy as I'm getting in a public forum.

Thanks for the offer and you know if she was closer I'd probably take you up on it. She seems cute. Smile

Dimitri,
Keep holding out for a girl who likes it when you tell her that if she opens her own door she'll get her arm broke. That's the line I use and even some of the younger girls like the attention. I do usually follow that line with, "I know you can do it yourself, but you don't have to when I am here."
ps: I haven't ever really broke any arms and my wife laughs at me when I say it.... but she waits for me to open her door.

The son in-law got some reloading stuff from a guy at work and gave me a cardboard box overflowing with bullets and primers. In the pile of bullet boxes were 8 sealed boxes of Nosler partitions and four sealed boxes of solid base Noslers. I do not use Noslers but, I can trade them for things I do use. There were about eight bricks of primers. There were about a dozen boxes of Hornady bullets. Now that was a good Christmas gift for me, old, "used" or no.
Best,
Ed

PS: D, keep looking until you find a lady that fits you easy, just like an old shoe fits your foot. If you try to make you fit her or try to make her fit you, all you will get is 24 hours of misery for a companion. Don't fish for a Blue Marlin in a mountain stream. If you want your big fish, you must go where the big fish hang out.

Paul,

Neat, well younger girls are not the problem generally. I have dated girls a couple of years younger then me who almost "look up" to me when we date. It can be funny when they say or do something they normally do with their dads to me cause they act embarrassed when they realize what happend. Very Happy
