I was at the range a few weeks ago and talked to a feller there who was going to Africa in August to hunt Cape Buffalo. I asked him what he was going to use and he told me a .470 Nitro Express, double rifle. He got the gun out to show me. All I can say is "Wow!" Even at 10 pounds it pointed like a dream. He said that the going price was about $15,000. I think it was a Merkel but honestly don't remember.

Dream rifle? My first one 30+ years ago was a Ruger Mini-14. Next was a Marlin 1895 in .45-70. Some time later it was a Pedersoli repro Remington rolling block, also .45-70. Then there was the Win 70 Classic Featherweight in .280 Rem. Last was a Rem 700 in .260 Rem. Next... Well, heck, that double rifle sounds pretty neat...

A German FG-42 LMG. It is a unique design and an original one in excellent condition sells for about $150,000.00. All the best...

I have my "dream" gun.....
Custom 358 Winchester on a Remington 700 action.
It shoots everything well - even 158 grain pistol bullets to sub caliber groups at 100 yards.
At 10 pounds it is no lightweight gun but it is exactly what I wanted (even the weight).

Dream Gun.....that's like saying....pick your Dream Woman....almost impossible cause each and every one of them has an attribute that makes it/her simply awesome.

Having said that, I really REALLY miss my 10" BBL TC Contender in 30.30 Win....and I am ver partial to my Mod 94 30.30 Win....and I simply adore my Krico .22 rimfire, and I wouldn't part with my Weatherby .243 or my Fausti Stephano O/U 12g shottie....ahhhh, damn...I don't have a dream gun....I love 'em all.

Cheers, Vince

Sir Arthur Currie's Webley Pistol. Not like I'd be able to track it down, purchase it and take it off the hands of what ever museum holds it today anyways. Sad

I'm with you Wiersy, there's just too many to choose from to be able to pick one favorite, however, the Barret .50 BMG would be a good choice.

I don't know, a 2.2 pound bullet at 5000+ fps is hard to beat!

(or out run!)

Well if guns like the Vulcan series count, a 30mm attached to a A-10 Warthog. Laughing
