Gday guys,
Have any of you tried powder coating cast lead boolits?
Can you use any type of coating powder or it has to be a certain type?

I am tired of using my lubrisizer and I think I should try the powder coating method.

There was a youtube video I watched on this a while back, a guy was powder coating 223 bullets in a small toaster oven. Seemed to work fine for plinker bullets. He was using some very cheap powder coating materials I remember.

I'll see if I cant find it.

Thanks guys, yes I learn about this from the University of YouTube as well.

I have ordered the cheapest powder I can find from ebay and will give it a go once I receive them (it would be a while to go yet, postal delivery in this Land Of Oz is atrocious)

I'd check the contents of the coating to make sure there is nothing abrasive in it.

Yeah, got to that site too, but short of sending a query, there is no mention at all about the powder product.

This is no the Bayou Bullets web site.

Bayou Bullets is a leading manufacturer of premium coated cast bullets to top competitive shooters and thousands of discriminating reloaders alike. We use “HI-TEK Supercoat”, a unique heat-set coating developed by J&M Specialized Products P/L in Australia and distributed by Donnie Miculek at Hi-Performance Bullet Coatings.

Bayou Bullets was started by Donnie Miculek, the famed Jerry's brother. IIRC he was the first to stat the coated bullets in the US. The original bullets were green and he called the coating Gator Snot.

Hope this helps.

That is right Vince, and thus the shipping fee is going to be huge.

So the cheap powder I ordered has arrived,
And the coating I get is not as what I saw on youtube, rather than an even coat on my boolits, it is somewhat splotchy, even after I heated the boolits to help the adhesion.

I guess I have to try again.
This is fun.
