Well the latest news on cyclone Marcia is its gone from being mearly inconvenient Cat 2 to probably being Cat 4 or Cat 5 and bloody dangerous when it crosses the coast.
Thats 260 kph or higher winds.
All this 670 km north of Vinces and my place, the storm is expected to slide south towards Brisbane after hitting the coast. 500 mm of rain expected., winds unknown by the time it gets here.
Well Ive put everthing away, bought food and fuel for the generator.
Who was it who said, "may you live in interesting times"?
Been only 23 years since the last one, and I wasn't here for that one.
Must buy beer.........

Sounds like the kind of place I would love to visit...
Live there, not really but a nice visit would be OK.

All I have to do is put the money together for the trip, a car, a place to stay and the time to do it. It is on my list. Can I bring a couple rifles and a revolver with me?

Long arms bolt action possibly, revolver probably not.
The amount of paper work will be onerous and it will involve both federal and state authorities to the point I wouldnt even know who to put you in touch with to find out.
If your seriously considering a trip down under ask for the information when you apply for your visa.
It will probably be easier to to leave the guns at home and organise something here.

Oh yes, socks are quite squishy.
Its rained constantly and heavily for 2 days, beginnig to think I'm in Melbourne.
Just constant rain and now a light breeze which may or may not get stronger.
Minor local flooding but nothing like what they copped up north.
We got off very easily.
Now to finish repairing the ride on mower, the sound of growing grass is starting to drown out the rain.....

Ain't that the truth mate...I reckon I've watched my lawn grow about and inch just today.
