For our NZ friends and every one else who loves the old war birds. Dad once told me that the Mosquito was the one plane he wanted to fly but never got a chance.

This is great Pkslinger! I love watching and hearing the War Birds! An amazing era in history. Glad there are still some around to enjoy.

Thanks Punkin. Nothing better than a Merlin on full song...it's hair raising mate.

We often have a couple of old Aussie warbirds go over home, travelling between two aerodromes...love the sounds of an old well tuned radial as well.

Good one Pumpkin, I love the sound of props, there's another good mosquito video on there called gaining altitude and it's shot from the cockpit.

Just finished a book about Mosquito missions. They were used in every way imaginable. They were exceptional night fighters and used in the ground attack role also. Thanks for posting. My dad and one of his brothers were RCAF and RAF respectivdly. My dad flew in bombers and my uncle was a Huricane pilot.

Just had a wee peek into the nut as Ive been a busy lad….bought a bow and getting into this archery game.
War Birds over Wanaka is an internationally recognized Air show its bloody brilliant - I haven't been but was there during a practice day, what a grand couple of hours - Spitfire x 2, P51 Mustang, Russian Yaks, Hawker Hurricane and an out of retirement Sky hawk, even my wife was n
mightly impressed.
Theres another in the North Island called Warbirds over Wairarapa which is pretty good as well but not the same calibre as the Wanaka weekend.
As for the Mossie - I saw it fly over my parents house one weekend before it went overseas - that was impressive.
Fly wise - NZ has just mothballed the old Iriquois Helicopters from our air force - that is a sad day in my book, its in my top 5 helicopter ever produced IMHO - flown in them a couple of times and loved the experience.
