Toothpaste???
LEE stuff works OK. I use a cotton swab, smear a teeny bit on, ease the monster sewer pipe wulf case in and it comes out super easy. The small press requires a couple of half-strokes, this way I'm not forcing it and snapping the little press (GRAMPS ) in two. Then when all done with the completed round I just wipe it off with a micro fiber cloth the case is shiny....
The LEE stuff I have has no odor. Not sure where that comes from, Bushboss. Maybe wash yer hands after ya groom that sweaty mount?
I stopped tumbling my brass a long time ago. Gave my tumbler to a buddy. Does nothing for accuracy and I hate picking cobb from flash holes. Sure makes for a nicer looking product though I'll give ya that. Could be jsut me but I've found with pistol dies if there's a bit of soot on the brass they go in the carbide dies even easier.

I'll second the imperial sizing wax recommendation.
Though if you have carbide dies its probably not needed.
Merry Christmas.

I use vasoline on case body and powdered graphite on case necks (tip bird shot into lid of jar, pour graphite on and just swirl neck in it)
that tooth paste crap gives all sorts of grief...just ask Radar !!!!!! he just about bald as it had him pulling his hair out trying to figure what was wrong.

Decided to do it Paul's way....single stage for the first test batch. I also really like the feel of the Ram Prime, and man it's fast that way, and perfect primer seating too.
Having good results with the "tooth paste". FL sizes easy. Quick wipe with a moistened rag with dish soap and the lube was gone. So I don't think the lube will cause a feed issue.
After careful flaring, seating a pill on a dummy round and comparing to a factory round, the neck tension is very high. Man I had to WHACK that bullet puller hard to get the pill to come out of the case. No shaving either. Might not have to crimp in the FCD. The first dummy test round came out to factory spec on OAL, ogive comparo and crimp taper.
Made the case block from some foam I had...nothing else I had was big enough!

I have been using RCBS lube on a pad, seems to work very well.
For the neck I do as Elvis did using graphite in a tub of tiny ball bearings.

buy a box of BB's and use that or use some birdshot to apply the graphite.
I have always used a brush that was rolled on the lube pad but since I switched to neck sizing I have used carbide dies and I have found no need to lube at all. (well as long as I am shooting reloads fired from my guns)

Vince, why don't you take steel shot? Or should that ball be as hard as bearings?

Use some lead shots Vince, works as good as and much easier to get.
I use bearings balls because I got plenty of them.

we are not allowed to use lead shot anymore, not hunting and even not for clays...
now all our trees are suffering from iron-oxide-disease... rust in their vanes.

Use Imperial Wax. No need to use a dish soap rag to wipe it off. Since I switched to Imperial, I never have had a stuck case or any other sizing issues. It will last you a life time plus its good to use on the threads of your dies.
